Open Studios 2026 is fast approaching! Join us the weekend of October 17-18 for our annual free studio tour in Washington County, Oregon. Learn more at www.washcoart.org.

Today's featured studio is number 37, Laura Koppes. Laura is a landscape painter and collage artist. She avoids replicating or directly representing specific things in nature, but rather aims to create an expressions of her mind's eye and the deeper, underlying emotions attached. Her goal is to create organic images inviting the viewer to take an active role in the creative process - to see the familiar places and emotions meaningful to them. As our 2026 Open Studios Tour draws nearer, we are highlighting the participating artists.

Today's feature is Studio 36, Bart Abraham, and land and seascape mixed media artist. Bart spent his childhood in South Dakota and Nebraska immersed in the local art culture. He earned a BFA in Printmaking and Gallery Management from the University of South Dakota and began working in mixed media, and as a gallery technician for the prestigious Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska. Do you have your Map Guide yet? You can find them at a wide variety of libraries, coffee shops, art galleries and other local businesses. Post a comment to find where there are Map Guides near you. These Map Guides were spotted in Downtown Hillsboro at Colours Art, Dee's Divine Finds, Cathering Bede Gallery, Insomnia Coffee and D'Anu Wines. Artists in the photos include Leo Brew and Martin Conley.

Colorful autumn is upon us, and we are eagerly anticipating the year's beautiful and inspiring art show— Washington County Open Studios 2026.
In case you didn't know, this is a unique event held since 2010 where local artists living in Washington County open their studios to the public.
This year features 44 art studios—both individual and collective—showcasing numerous artists across a wide range of artistic genres.
Artists have already received signs for display in the neighbourhoods as well as freshly printed 2026 guide maps for your convenience.
It is excitement in the air!

Neerajana Rai will be at Studio 14 of the 2026 tour. Neerajana writes:

I am a mixed media oil painting artist who paints nature in my own unique style, breaking barriers of realism and presenting my vision and version of “Abstract realism”with textures and bright colors on canvas spreading calm and positivity. I believe that colors and textures possess a unique ability to soothe and energize at the same time. It soothes anxiety and ignites imagination with possibilities. I leave areas loose for boosting audience’s imagination and textures hold the gaze. I often use acrylic paints, spray paints, collage, inks, modeling paste to build up the base layers of the painting and then final layers are done in oil colors. My inspiration comes from nature and I love to paint birds, flowers, faces, horses and landscapes.

The Open Studios Tour features a wide variety of art, from traditional to contemporary.

Studio 14, K and M studio is a home studio and gallery space with multi-media art presented by 2 artists. Michael Denning and Kathy Marie provide a whimsical space with animatronic toys to interact with, acrylic paintings, sculptures, drawings, stickers and more.
