9/3/26 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Laura and her 6-year-old daughter, Ellie have been volunteering at Your Food Oasis for the past year or so. Their neighbor Katherine, another of our volunteers, told Laura about YFO. So she came in to pick up a box of food for her friend during the ICE presence in Hillsboro.

Laura is home schooling Ellie and is doing an amazing job of it. We fellow volunteers are often surprised at how smart this little girl is. She is our youngest volunteer and was so surprised when she was given her "official" "Your Food Oasis Volunteer" shirt.

Laura says she is grateful for the community they have found at YFO as everyone is kind and cheerful. We are all happy to have them as a part of our team.

💚 Food is Free at Your Food Oasis! 💚

At Your Food Oasis, our doors and hearts are always open.

We want to remind our beneficiaries of a guiding principle that we have followed since we first opened our doors: Your Food Oasis never charges for food, and we will never turn anyone away.

We continue to, graciously, receive voluntary donations from those of you who are able and wish to give. The donations have greatly assisted YFO to cover operating expenses and to keep our doors open. As Always. Donations are completely optional. You never need to pay or donate to receive food.

Since 2018, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit has been 100% volunteer-run and community-supported. Every week, we proudly provide 180–240 boxes of groceries to local households in need.

Unfortunately, we are not set-up to allow any single individual to take more than one box. Each household must be represented by an adult and a single adult can only represent one household. If you are assisting households who are unable to make it to us themselves, please consider collecting a box for them on an alternative distribution day. We distribute boxes every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday

If you have a friend, a family member or a neighbor needing extra help putting food on the table, please share this information with them.

8/27/26 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

David and Christine have been drivers with Your Food Oasis for about 3 years. They pick up donations from Safeway every Monday, take them to YFO, where they sort and store them until distribution on Tuesday.

David is a retired Certified Public Accountant and Christine recently earned a bachelor's degree at the age of 63 (a lifelong dream). She manages the Meadows HOA pool, overseeing swim teams, lessons, lifeguards and pool maintenance.

They have been married for 51 years and are blessed with 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with family and singing in a local barbershop group.

8/26/26 For Thursday distribution

What a week we are having at Your Food Oasis ! Tuesday we gave out 81 food boxes, while dealing with the heat and having to manage the traffic. As some of you know, there was a semi truck trying to get into the lumber yard next to us. When you get in line, please pull up close to the car in front of you. We must remember that we cannot block their driveway.

Today we will be receiving a produce delivery from Lippman Farms as well as our regular Thursday deliveries. It is unlimited bread and pastry from the racks today. A limit of one item from the pastry table assures more households can take home a delicious dessert.

We have a receptacle with a green "bottle drop" bag in it near the registration area. If you have returnable bottles and cans, we would sure appreciate them. After all, every little bit helps !

8/24/26 Monday for Tuesday distribution

We are fortunate to have received a huge food donation that normally would have gone to another food pantry. That other pantry is not able to be open tomorrow, so they offered the donation to us. In addition to our regular pick ups, the food boxes should be full to the brim again.

As always, you must be in line by 12 noon. We do suggest a $3.00 donation per food box to help cover our operating expenses. We are an all-volunteer organization but do have expenses such as gas to pick up the donated food, insurance, cleaning supplies, book keeping / office supplies and appliance maintence.

Our address is 3033 SE 59th Court in Hillsboro. We distribute food boxes every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

We have received a nice big donation of fruits and vegetables as well as grab-and-go meals from Whole Foods. In addition, we have a large variety of breads & pastries and 3 freezers full of meat. 8/20/26 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Orville and Arlene. They have been volunteers and financial supporters for the past 12 years. Orville is the cousin of our former President, Robert.

They started out just helping Robert when he was shorthanded on volunteers. Then Orville started coming in quite regularly on Thursdays and pitching in. Robert once told Orville that we had a commercial refrigerator that needed a new compressor. Out of the kindness of his heart, he paid to have it repaired. What a blessing that was to all of us at YFO.

Orville, and sometimes Arlene bring Robert into YFO almost every Tuesday and Thursday so he can visit with all of us. Some of you may have seen him rolling around in his wheelchair while you were waiting in line out back. These visits have been a tremendous help in Robert's recovery. He loves visiting with all of us, and you, our patrons and we love visiting with him (it gives us an excuse to sit down and relax for a few minutes).

Orville is a Vietnam veteran and belongs to the VFW. He is very active with them and often prepares breakfast and dinners for his fellow veterans. In addition, he also volunteers at the VA hospital once a week.

Before retirement Orville was a construction consultant for Hillsboro school district and at one time owned his own consulting firm. Arlene volunteers at the Hillsboro hospital two days a week and is very involved with the VFW auxiliary.

These are two of the nicest, most generous, helpful and caring people. We are so blessed to have them as part of the YFO team.

It's unlimited bread and pastry from the racks day. Please limit yourselves to one item from the cake table. You must be in line by 12 noon to receive a food box. We suggest a $3.00 donation per box to help cover our operating expenses, if you have it.

When you are in line, please do not block the driveway of the lumber yard next door. They often have big delivery trucks going in and out of their business.
