High Point Community Against Violence

High Point Community Against Violence High Point Community Against Violence (HPCAV) was formed in 1997 to reduce violent crime in High Point and keep our community safe from violent offenders.

HPCAV is a non-profit organization working with the Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF), a group of law enforcement officials consisting of the High Point Police Department, NC Community Corrections, ATF, FBI, SBI, DEA, District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, by assisting in confronting offenders who are involved in violent crime, offering offenders help in turning their lives in a

positive direction and supporting the prosecution process if the offenders reoffend and return to crime and violence. Law enforcement agencies and the community began this partnership in 1997. In 1998, we began working with a strategy that had been successful in Boston, MA. Over time, our strategy has been successfully adjusted to meet the changing needs of a smaller city. In 2004, our strategy was adjusted again, to target street level drug and violent criminals in specific areas of the city. In 2008, our strategy was re-adjusted to address youth gang violence. Today, this strategy is known as the High Point Model and is being replicated in cities and towns across our nation. It is through the continued innovative and hard work of our law enforcement partners and the community that we have been able to reduce violent crime in High Point and keep it below 1997 levels.

High Point Community Against Violence (HPCAV) attended the T. Wingate Andrews High School senior class cookout at Washington Terrace Park. We helped serve hotdogs and hamburgers while spending quality time interacting with the graduating seniors. It was a great opportunity to connect, build relationships, and celebrate this important milestone with the students.

Help sponsor a student for the summer work, learn and earn program. We have 14 students that will be working. Your sponsorship will fund the summer program which includes (pay for the students and coaches, purchase of a van for transportation, vehicle insurance, liability insurance, tax and accounting fees and food for the students. They will be working in the community and will receive several construction certifications. When school starts back, they will continue to learn leadership skills and will get tutoring from the coaches and students at High Point University.

Thank you to those who came out yesterday to support the PEAK 360 program. The auction didn't take place due to the shed not being ready, but it will happen in August. We will have a big event, and the student made products will be auctioned off and all proceeds will be given to the students.
