What if "public access" still exists but there's nothing left worth accessing?

The gate is open, the roads are open, and access is better than ever!

Sure. Bring the family. Take the kids to see the haul road.
Have a picnic next to the tailings pond.
Enjoy the methane flare.

The deer and elk are gone. But hey- wait until your friends see your pictures of the data center.

Access is only as good as what's beyond the parking lot.

And you don't need a "FOR SALE" sign to lose your public lands.

It's happening right now, in plain sight.

A half dozen votes might not sound like much. But in some Montana races, it could make all the difference.

There are 18 pivotal races where public land champions need to win... races that could help determine which of two futures becomes reality.

The GOOD future: public access protected, parks and trails funded, clean air and water defended, and public lands kept public.

The BAD future: public lands transferred and sold, protections rolled back, more development, and less investment in the places we love.

A half dozen votes can decide a race. And those races can help decide the future of Montana’s public lands.

Which future do you want?

Our political views? Whatever protects public lands and keeps them public. That's the priority.

This morning, Wild Montana Action Fund learned of reports that Alani Bankhead’s family and friends have faced online harassment. We unequivocally condemn the harassment of any candidate or their family and friends—online or in person. This behavior has no place in Montana politics, and we do not condone nor participate in it.

Our mission is to build political power for the future of Montana’s public lands. We can stand fiercely for what we believe in without losing sight of the fact that we are neighbors. Especially during the intensity of an election, Montanans deserve a politics grounded in decency and respect.

Real people. Real emails. Real stories from across Montana.

Letters have been sent from neighbors, friends, parents, and Montanans who care deeply about the places that make this state home.

Behind every email is someone choosing to speak up about what matters to them and the future they want to see for Montana.

This is what community looks like. People showing up, using their voices, and reminding us that none of us are in this alone.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to write in, and to those who gave us permission to share their words here.

Seth Bodnar is the only candidate who can beat Kurt Alme. But only IF Alani Bankhead steps down.

The next senator from Montana will hold a seat for six years, and they’ll vote on public lands the whole time. Kurt Alme cannot be that person.

Is Alme who we want voting on whether the Roadless Rule survives? Whether our public lands get sold off? Imagine the damage he can do in six years.

Every poll since May has said the same thing: a divided field hands Alme the seat. The only path for our public lands is to support Seth Bodnar and ask Alani Bankhead to step down.

If Kurt Alme wins, our public lands lose.

So who can beat him?
Polling shows Seth Bodnar has the strongest chance of defeating Kurt Alme. But not with a democrat in the race. We need a public lands champion with the strongest chance to win.

Ask Alani Bankhead to withdraw from the race and give Montana's public lands a shot at victory.

Montanans deserve a representative who knows what our public lands are worth because he’s spent his career protecting them.

We believe that person is Sam Forstag, and we're proud to support Sam for Montana’s Western District U.S. House seat.

As a smokejumper and USFS union leader, Sam has seen firsthand what happens when our public lands agencies are understaffed and underfunded. He knows the threats facing our public lands because he's lived them. He's running to reinvest in the public land agencies that keep our trailheads open and our forests cared for; to reject schemes to privatize the lands that belong to all of us; and to make sure the next generation inherits the Montana we love.

Sam's ready to fight for the people and places that make Montana home. This November, let’s send him to Washington. 🌲

This spring, Montana’s U.S. Senate race changed immediately, creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to elect a leader who will stand up for our public lands, clean water, wildlife habitat, and outdoor way of life.

That’s why we’re supporting Independent Seth Bodnar for U.S. Senate.

At a moment when Congress is threatening Wilderness Areas, undermining public land management, and pushing efforts to sell off the public lands that belong to all of us, Montana needs independent leadership grounded in stewardship, service, and common sense.

Seth is building a campaign focused on protecting what unites Montanans:

• Public lands that stay public
• Access to our rivers and trails
• Healthy wildlife habitat
• Strong communities rooted in stewardship

And Montanans are responding. Across the state, people are looking for leadership focused on protecting what makes this place special, not more partisan politics.

This race is about the future of Montana for generations to come.

Join us in supporting Seth’s campaign and helping him earn a place on the ballot.
