"I make a point to appreciate all the little things in my life. I go out and smell the air after a good, hard rain. These small actions help remind me that there are so many great, glorious pieces of good in the world."

We are proud to announce our 2026-2027 Access to Justice Grantees! This year our grant awards totaled over $2.34 million to nonprofits across Montana working to expand access to civil legal services. This marks the largest single-year grant total and breaks last year’s record of $1.6 million. We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners, including our IOLTA leadership banks, who made these grants possible.

We love a good check-presentation day.

On July 8, 2026, our Missoula Commercial Market President, Ryan Jones, handed a $35,000 check to Alissa Chambers, Executive Director of the Montana Justice Foundation. Since 1979, the Foundation has worked to make access to justice a reality for all Montanans, distributing more than $8 million to the state's legal aid community along the way.

This gift is part of something bigger. Together with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, we awarded $718,750 in combined support to 35 nonprofits across Montana. We contributed $200,000, and FHLB Des Moines matched it through its Member Impact Fund.

When we team up like this, our neighbors' dollars stretch further — and more families find stability, safety, and support close to home. 🧡

That's the kind of partnership we're proud to be part of.

According to Equal Justice Works, 61% of Americans believe income affects whether someone receives fair treatment in court, and many mistakenly assume an attorney will be provided in civil cases. A lack of information and the intimidation of the legal system create powerful barriers to seeking help, leaving millions to face serious legal challenges alone and unsure of their rights or where to turn.
Our mission at Montana Justice Foundation is to bridge the justice gap by funding local nonprofits that provide critical civil legal services across our great state.
On this Law Day, your gift helps expand access to legal help and moves us closer to a system that works for everyone. Even a small donation makes a lasting difference: https://www.mtjustice.org/donate

For the first time ever, MLSA is so excited to take part in Valley Gives with Billings Community Foundation this year! Did you know that MLSA handles 800+ cases in Yellowstone County annually? In 2025, those cases impacted 2,034 clients and their family members, including 940 children.

We are excited to deepen our relationships in Billings and deepen the support that we receive from the Billings community. Mark your calendars for April 30-May 1, and please consider including MLSA in your YVG giving this year!
