Fall is here and so is Hammond Live! Grab your chairs and your people and meet us downtown.

Hammond Live kicks off Friday, September 18th at Railroad Park, 5:30 to 8PM. On the lineup: Be Kind Rewind bringing all your favorite 90s and early 2000s rock and pop hits, plus The Drunk Uncles Band serving up 80s classics like the coolest uncle at the cookout.

Free and all ages. Heads up, Railroad Park has limited shade, so bring a hat or sunscreen if you're coming early. Grab dinner to go from a Downtown Hammond restaurant and make a night of it.

The Hammond Downtown Development District is hiring its next Executive Director.

This is a chance to lead a nationally recognized downtown revitalization effort. Downtown Hammond earned the Great American Main Street Award in 2022 after more than 40 years of community-driven progress. As agency head, the Executive Director will guide economic development, historic preservation, public space investment, and Hammond's Main Street and Cultural District programs, while working hand-in-hand with our Board of Directors, City partners, and the community.

We're looking for a strategic, collaborative leader with strong financial and organizational management experience who's ready to help write the next chapter for Downtown Hammond.

After nearly eight years with the Hammond Downtown Development District, including almost four as Executive Director, Michelle Kendall will conclude her service on September 18, 2026.

During her tenure, Michelle helped guide significant progress in Downtown Hammond, strengthened the DDD as an organization, and built partnerships that will continue to serve the district well into the future.

"It has been an honor to work alongside so many passionate people who care deeply about Hammond and its future," Michelle said. "Hammond will always feel like my first true home. I'll just be a little farther up the railroad tracks in Illinois with my family."

Thank you, Michelle, for your dedication and leadership. Downtown Hammond is better because of you.

Our 29th Hot August Night is officially in the books! On Saturday evening, Downtown Hammond felt alive with community and a celebration of local businesses, art, music and culture.

Thank you to our downtown businesses, volunteers, community partners and everyone who came downtown and made the night what it was.

🍹 Cate Street Seafood Station is celebrating 22 years in Downtown Hammond with its famous frozen Crazy Train and ahi tuna poke with mango on the Tasting Tour.
