This week, Operation Lifeline Inc. opened our supportive housing home for veterans in Palatka.

Already, two veterans have moved in, representing two lives changed and two veterans who no longer have to wonder where they will sleep tonight.

The home currently has capacity for three veterans, with plans to expand to as many as ten bedrooms through future renovations and community support.

We are grateful to our partners at Keys to Home (FL-508) and the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System for helping connect veterans to housing and supportive services.

This is just the beginning. Every veteran deserves a safe place to call home.

A beautiful example of community coming together!

We are grateful to the Northeast Florida Builders Association Apprenticeship Program for donating a handcrafted convertible bench/table to our Spring Street veteran supportive housing home in Green Cove Springs.

This piece was built by NEFBA Level One carpentry apprentices as part of their hands-on training. Even better, they included sealant and brushes so our residents can add the finishing touches themselves.

The bench will have a special place at the Spring Street Sanctuary, Clay County’s first supportive housing home for veterans, where it will help create a welcoming shared space for the men who live there.

Thank you to Rachael Burke and Charlie Libretto from NEFBA for coordinating this donation and for continuing to show what happens when workforce development and community service come together.

This is exactly the kind of partnership that makes our community stronger.

Operation Lifeline Inc. is excited to announce that we have officially been selected to partner with Volunteer Florida and AmeriCorps to help expand our impact across Northeast Florida and beyond.

As part of this partnership, OLI has been approved for two full-time paid AmeriCorps VISTA service positions focused on strengthening the long-term capacity of our organization and the communities we serve.

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program dedicated to fighting poverty by helping nonprofit organizations build sustainable systems and infrastructure. VISTA members serve full-time with organizations like ours to help expand programs, strengthen partnerships, improve volunteer engagement, support workforce initiatives, and increase long-term community impact.

At Operation Lifeline, these VISTA members will help support:
• Affordable housing and community revitalization initiatives
• Workforce development and apprenticeship pathways
• Volunteer recruitment and engagement systems
• Employer and community partnerships
• Veteran support and economic opportunity efforts

This partnership represents an important milestone as we continue building sustainable programs designed to create long-term impact for veterans, families, and communities in need.

We will begin recruitment for these positions in the near future and look forward to sharing additional details soon.

Proud to support Women Build 2026 with Clay County Habitat!

It was great seeing so many amazing women come together to invest their time and energy into building stronger communities. Events like this are about more than just constructing a home. They’re about neighbors stepping up, learning new skills, supporting one another, and taking an active role in making a difference locally.

And, David Black did what he does best: teaching. He enjoyed working alongside the volunteers throughout the day, sharing construction knowledge, helping guide the hands-on work on site, and encouraging others to get involved in the trades and community service alike.

Thank you to Clay County Habitat for allowing Operation Lifeline Inc. to be part of such a meaningful event.

A huge thank you to Operation Lifeline Inc. for supporting our Women Build Day and allowing David to share his construction expertise with our volunteers.
His knowledge, leadership, and willingness to teach made a real impact on the build and helped create an incredible experience for everyone involved. We appreciate your partnership and commitment to building stronger communities alongside us.

For over a year, every rainstorm brought anxiety for Cherie Pensler.

Water leaked through multiple spots in the roof of her mobile home, pooling into pots and soaking wet towels spread across her floors. Mold crept into her walls, destroying personal belongings and leaving her in a constant battle to keep her home livable.
