Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1988 Green Cove Springs , Florida Some of the groups banded together and in 1914, formed the VFW, which received a congressional charter in 1936

The mission of the VFW is to “foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts”; to “serve our veterans, the military and our communities”; and to “advocate on behalf of all veterans.” ****"Please call ahead to check on events or Canteen hours as they may change at the last minute".****

The VFW traces its roots to 1899 when veterans of

the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection formed local organizations to assist them in securing medical care and other benefits.
