Since 2012, David and Linda DeGroot have been dedicated champions in the fight against blood cancer. Following David’s diagnosis with B-Cell Follicular Lymphoma, the couple found hope and community through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Inspired by the support they received, they founded the non-profit Serving from the Heart, Inc. in October 2022 to expand their fundraising impact and prov

ide direct assistance to patients and families. As we look toward our 2026 goals, we aim to raise an additional $25,000 to fund life-saving research and patient advocacy. This year, we are volunteering at Blood Cancer United - Wisconsin Big Climb at Camp Randall Stadium — and we are doing it for something simple and powerful: time and hope.

Big Climb isn’t just an event — it fuels research, patient support, and treatment breakthroughs that didn’t exist just a few years ago. Nearly 40% of all FDA approved cancer treatments begin in blood cancer research. That blew me away. It’s real, tangible progress.
