Today is World Mental Health Day.

And this year, we’re spending it surrounded by first responders and their spouses at our First Responder Marriage Retreat.

Because mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

The stress of the job can follow you home. It can change the way you communicate, the way you connect, and the way you show up for the people you love most.

Caring for your mental health can mean going to therapy. It can mean talking to a peer. It can mean asking for help before you’re in crisis.

And sometimes, it means taking a weekend away from the noise to reconnect with the person who has been by your side through all of it.

Today, we’re grateful for every couple who chose to invest in themselves, their marriage, and a life together beyond the uniform.

Mental health matters.
So do the relationships that help carry us through. 💚💜

🖤💙🖤 Our hearts are with Wisconsin State Patrol as they mourn the loss of Trooper Brad Ritger.

We extend our deepest condolences to Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, fellow troopers, dispatchers, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

To the first responders across Wisconsin feeling the weight of this loss today, take care of yourselves, and take care of one another.

“We spend our careers answering everyone else’s call for help. When one of our own finally makes that call, someone needs to answer.”

This. This is why First Reach exists.

For years, we’ve told first responders that it’s okay to ask for help. That message matters, but it can’t stop there.

When someone finally raises their hand and says, “I need help,” there needs to be somewhere to go. There need to be resources available. And the cost of getting better shouldn’t be the reason someone has to keep struggling.

We’re proud to see projects like Hidden Beauty Retreat working toward the same goal: making sure there is something on the other side of asking for help.

Because encouraging first responders to reach out is only the first step.
