Monday's meeting(11/2) of the Great Bend Optimist Club will feature the Executive Director of the Great Bend Recreation Commission, Chris Umphres. Chris will be updating the club and guests on the rebuild of the golf course, and other things happening at the REC. Everyone is welcome at the Optimist Club meetings. The club meets at Noon Monday at the Walnut Bowl

On Monday (10/10) the Great Bend Optimist Club enjoyed a presentation by Curtis Wolf, the director of the Kansas Wetlands Education Center. Curtis (and his Sandhill Crane) updated us on the events and activities at KWEC and Cheyenne Bottoms. The fall migration is in full swing, making it a spectacular time to explore the Bottoms. Thanks Curtis.

Next Monday (1/26) will be the monthly business meeting for the the Club. The Great Bend Optimist Club meets at Noon Mondays, at the Walnut Bowl.

Each October the Great Bend Optimist Club delivers dictionaries to every 6th grader in Great Bend. This includes Public School, Parochial School, and Home School students. The dictionaries are delivered in October because the 16th of October every year is Dictionary Day. October 16th was selected to honor Noah Webster, as Oct. 16 was his birthdate in 1758. It's always fun to deliver the dictionaries and share some Optimism with the 6th graders each October.

The Great Bend Optimist Club meets each Monday at Noon at the Walnut Bowl. Guests are always welcome at the Optimist Club meetings. Looking forward to the next meeting on Monday.

At Monday's Great Bend Optimist Club meeting (9/21) we heard from GBHS Volleyball Coach Tina Johnson, and her 3 Seniors, Kya Behr, Alex Mayers, and Meredith Mazouch. Thanks Ladies for a great program, Good Luck the rest of the season. Go Panthers.

Also at Monday's meeting outgoing President John Sullivan installed the Club's new President, Richard Lartz. We're looking forward to a good year (or two 😄) under Richard's leadership.

Next Monday (9/28) is the monthly business meeting.

On Monday (9/14) the Great Bend Optimist Club learned a lot about the proposed 3/4 cent sales tax from Great Bend Mayor Alan Moeder and City Administrator Logan Burns. This is an important issue for our community with lots of implications. Thanks for the opportunity for education.

Next week (9/21) GBHS Volleyball coach Tina Johnson and her 3 Senior volleyball players will present our program. Guests are always welcome. The Great Bend Optimist Club meets at Noon Monday at the Walnut Bowl.

Two guest speakers at Monday's (9/14) Great Bend Optimist Club meeting. Great Bend Mayor Alan Moeder, and City Administer Logan Burns will both be on hand to discuss the Sales Tax question on the upcoming election. Come hear from our community leaders on this important question. The Optimist Club meets at 12 Noon Monday at the Walnut Bowl. Guests are always welcome.

Thanks to Club Member Sheri Yager for our "5th Monday" program on August 31st. Sheri shared about career journey, growing up in the Holyrood area, and their amazing story of becoming the Parents of 4. Thanks for sharing Sheri.

No Club meeting on Labor Day.

Next Great Bend Optimist Club Meeting is September 14th when Mayor Alan Moeder and City Administrator Logan Burns will speak on the proposed Sales Tax question. Guests are always welcome at the Optimist Club meetings. The Great Bend Optimist Club meets at Noon on Monday's (except Labor Day) at the Walnut Bowl.

August has 5 Monday's, so that means the 8/31 Great Bend Optimist Club Meeting will feature one of our members. Sheri Yager will be sharing her story on Monday. Everyone is welcome to enjoy lunch and Sheri's program at Noon Monday at the Walnut Bowl.

Monday's Great Bend Optimist Club program featured Andrea Buhler Lartz and Mr. Julio from the Pawnee County Humane Society. Andrea updated the Club on the programs, activities, and adoption options at the Humane Society. Thanks for a great program Andrea, and thanks for brining Mr. Julio to the meeting.

Next Monday (8/24) will be the monthly business meeting for the Great Bend Optimist Club.

Monday's Great Bend Optimist Club Meeting (8/10) featured long time area journalist Mike Gilmore. Mike shared about the history of print journalism as well as his pilgrimage through school and a great career of Sports and News writing including stops at the Great Bend Tribune and Larned Tiller and Toiler. Thanks for a great program Mike.

This Monday (8/17) Andrea Buhler Lartz from the Pawnee County Humane Society will be our program. Come learn about the Humane Society. She's been known to bring live props to her presentations 😃

The Optimist Club meets at Noon on Monday's at the Walnut Bowl.
