Dancing for Dancers

Dancing for Dancers was founded in 2014 by dancer/ dance instructor/social worker, Stephanie Schiller, LCSW (Shparago).

Founded in 2014, Dancing for Dancers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission to connect communities, provide opportunities and support dancers in need. In 2014, Stephanie came up with the idea to plan a dance concert to help support an organization in the Chicago dance community. The first show was held in a dance studio that included 70 performers from 5 local studios. The show grew

each year and had a total of 326 dancers representing 17 studios in 2016. D4D has hosted almost 60 studios and thousands of dancers. We celebrated our 10th and 11th concerts in 2022. We have awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships and have donated to several local dance programs. We have awarded 80 D4D Diamond Example Awards that celebrate dancers who are leaders and role models in their community. The 501(c)3 non-profit has continued to grow to include additional scholarship programming, a D4D donation program, community partnerships, and a Mission Ambassador program. We are so excited to host our 12th benefit concert in 2023!!

Our matching scholarship with our friends at Step It Up LA Dance
is officially open until December 1st! For every scholarship D4D awards to Step It Up 2027, SIU will match it 100%. This will double the dancers scholarship to this iconic LA program. Apply on our website dancingfordancers.org 💙🩷

We had the best afternoon kicking off our 2026 season! Our 2026-2027 Mission Ambassadors spent time getting to know one another, building connections, and giving back through an afternoon of volunteering at Northwest Compass Inc.

Northwest Compass is an incredible social service agency providing housing assistance, youth program, a food pantry, career coaching, financial assistance, and so much more to individuals and families in the community.

This organization holds a special place in the heart of our D4D Director, who completed her undergraduate social work internship there. D4D has had the privilege of volunteering at Northwest Compass in the past, so it was especially meaningful to return with our 2026 Mission Ambassadors.

A huge thank you to Sonia and the entire Northwest Compass team for opening your doors to us once again. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn, serve, and give back alongside you! Thank you for all that you do for the community!

We're incredibly grateful for this wonderful group of Mission Ambassadors and their amazing parents. We can’t wait to see all the good this group will do throughout the year!
