What does Kiwanis do?

Nearly 15,000lbs of fresh produce delivered to the Lake Villa Food Pantry at Caboose Park.

And that’s just one way Kiwanis makes a measurable difference in Lindenhurst, Lake Villa and “Lakes Area” communities!

If you’d like to help make a difference, feel free to join any of our club’s service projects.

Our next service project is ringing bells for the Salvation Army this December.

If you are interested in making a difference, please let us know.

You don’t have to be a member of Kiwanis to help deliver a Kiwanis service project. Bring your warm coat - it’s usually a bit cold! 😃

We are approaching the time of year when we all give thanks for the bounty nature provides us.

The Kiwanis Club has been helping in a small way to provide that bounty to those who rely on the Lake Villa Food Pantry. Each year, the Kiwanis Community Garden produces approximately 1,000 lbs of fresh produce for the food pantry.

This year, the children participating in the Lindenhurst Park District after school program helped out in the spring and during the fall harvest.

The pictures attached show just a small sample of the garden bounty this season!

This is just one way Kiwanis helps build community and improve the lives of children and their families.

We work hard to do a community service project each month. In December we will ring bells for the The Salvation Army USA .

If you’d like to join us to ring bells, please let us know. You don’t have to be a formal club member to join in our service projects!

YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

Last night, the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst and the Lakes Area helped The Allendale Association give their resident kids a great Halloween Trick or Treat.

Resident Allendale kids need a welcoming and caring community. Allendale’s Trunk or Treat event brings together people and organizations from across the “Lakes” area to bring community together to support the kids.

Allendale is a valued member of our club. We love partnering with Allendale to bring joy to children and improve their lives.

We strive to do community service at least once a month.

In December we will ring bells for the Salvation Army.

If you’d like to ring bells with us, just let us know. Bundle up. It can be cold!

The Before & After School Program is more than just a place to go before or after school! At the LPD, our program gives kids a safe and fun place to spend their time, but it's also a place where they can learn, explore, make new friends, and experience things they might not get to do during a typical school day. Just look at what we were up to last WEEK!

Rainy Day, Big Harvest! 🥔🍅🌱

It may have been a rainy day, but that didn't stop the fun in the garden! The Lindenhurst Park District Before & After School students and the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst and Lake Villa teamed up for a hands-on harvest experience.

Students got to see the onions that were planted back in April finally being harvested! Mr. Dennis also helped us unearth some potatoes that were still growing, and while digging, we discovered lots of worms too! 🐛

With help from Mrs. Connie and Mr. Ken from the Kiwanis, students harvested peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, and squash. They even got to take some home to enjoy.

The rest of the fresh harvest will be donated to the Lake Villa Township Food Pantry at Caboose Park, helping provide fresh produce to our community.

A big Thank You to our Kiwanis friends for making this garden experience so much fun and meaningful for our students! Rain, vegetables, worms, and all!
