“At some point today, they will be coming in to run some tests to confirm death. They will run the tests, remove him from the ventilator, confirm, and then put him back on it and he will be taken care of by Gift of Hope nurses” we were told today.
We waited all day for this horrific time.
After an excruciating wait, they came in about 7:45 PM.
They told us we should leave the room. “go f**k yourself was my response”.
This was my last effort to ask for the miracle. I told the nurses every day, if we ever needed a ‘Hail Mary’ this is the time.
The tests they did on him were some of the worst torture I have seen in real life.
They bent his thumb all the way back, nothing. They pushed big syringes of water into his ears, nothing. They opened up his eyelids and scratched his eyeballs, nothing. When they went to work his big toe, I said, ‘Maddy this is it, if you ever wanted to kick someone in the balls, now is the time bubba’. They bent his big toe back so far, it hurt my foot, nothing.
When they turned that ventilator off and we saw that f**king straight line and that horrible noise, Holy F**k.
‘Time of death’ they actually had to say those words, I will never ever be able to explain the pain we had, ever.
For 2 days I begged Maddox to open his eyes. I begged for Maddox to say, ‘Hi Daddy’.
Nothing. Now, at that moment, nothing, no words. Just bent over crying and holding my family.
That ended the worst 3 days of our life.

This, this is something I would never ever wish on any parent.

We miss you so much Maddox that it actually hurts. Physical pain.

The next couple of days we were just numb…..

7 years ago, Maddox spoke and smiled for the last time. He closed his eyes forever. It’s a movie that plays over and over in my head and for some reason hurts like f**king hell this week every year. It’s like it was 3 hours ago.
This whole week will suck.
Everyone’s continued love and support helps get through each day so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

WOW — the 7th Annual Golf Outing is officially in the books, and once again, we are left speechless. Every year, we think it can’t get any better, and yet somehow, it always does. We are truly humbled by the love, support, and energy that surrounded the 20th of September. From the moment check-in began, we could feel the excitement and the sense of community that make this event so special.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and seeing so many familiar faces, along with some new ones, made the day very meaningful. Whether you were golfing, volunteering, sponsoring, or simply making this day what it was, this was a celebration of connection, generosity, and heart.

To our incredible volunteers, thank you for showing up with smiles, dedication, and patience. You are the backbone of this event. To our sponsors, your continued belief in what we do keeps this foundation alive year after year. We want to thank AJ, Kiara Faulhaber, and Shannon for making sure we have awesome photos to keep those memories alive. And, to everyone who helped plan, organize, donate, and participate in any way: we see you, appreciate you, and can’t thank you enough.

To Kathleen, AJ, Zach, and Cooper, thank you for the never-ending support they give to Ralph to get through this day. Your love and encouragement mean more than words can say. Ralph also sends his deepest thank you to everyone who shows up and shows out every year for their family. He can’t thank you enough.

The celebration afterward at JJ Twigs was also a success, and everyone who came seemed to have the best time! We thank you so much for showing up for us time and time again.
We are beyond grateful to every one of you who continues to make it happen.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for another amazing year. Can’t wait to get back to the green for the next one!

A note from a parent who knew Maddox. Just when I get down and don't think we are doing as good as I want.

“It’s hard to put into words the impact Maddox had on our community. His presence was a gift, and the love and generosity his family—and so many others—continue to share in his honor are nothing short of extraordinary. Losing Maddox, who was in my daughter’s grade and class, was devastating. But witnessing how these children have transformed their grief into compassion, purpose, and a commitment to giving back is deeply moving. They are living tributes to Maddox’s spirit, and I can only hope to leave even a fraction of that kind of legacy in the lives I touch.”

I, we, Madox, need your help.

We are looking for people to play golf, to be a sponsor, to donate a bottle of good alcohol, case of beer, etc. and/or purchase (1) or (3) or (6) golf balls, your choice, for the Helicopter ball drop. As you all have heard me say, I am Shameless when it comes to Maddox and the Foundation. I don't apologize for that. It has been almost 7 years since Maddox died and it still feels like last night. The pain is relentless and I know it will never go away. This is how I deal with it. I put my heart and sole into this Foundation and will continue to keep Maddox alive and help others in his same.

$210,000 - That is what we have given out to the public. Financial troubles, Emergencies, Food Pantries, helping families during holidays. Over 30 scholarships have been awarded.
