As the temperature begins to drop, let’s come together to make sure our neighbors have what they need to stay warm this winter! 🧤🧦🥾

We’re collecting new or gently used cold-weather essentials, including gloves, socks, boots, scarves, and hand warmers to share with neighbors in our community. If you have a little extra to share, you can drop off these items at our Fulton Street location during business hours.

Starting this year, giving to the neighbors and causes you care about could mean a little more back in your pocket at tax time!
If you don’t itemize deductions and take the standard deduction, you may also be eligible to deduct up to $1,000 in charitable cash contributions ($2,000 for married couples filing jointly) on your 2026 federal tax return. Simply give by cash, check, or credit card to an eligible nonprofit you care about, and you may qualify for this additional tax deduction!

Our neighbors call The Other Way Ministries the "living room of the West Side." 🏡

Sometimes the most impactful gift isn't what's under the tree, but the love that is generated by neighbors when they show up for one another. 🫶 We know it may feel a little early (and warm!) to be thinking about Christmas, but we're preparing now, because together, we can make sure every child experiences the joy and hope of Christmas this year. 🎄

We loved hosting our recent Ministry Update Luncheon and the opportunity to connect with community partners, donors, board members, and many other supporters of our mission. We truly couldn’t do this work without each of you, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share updates on what your partnership is making possible. 🤝

A huge thank you to one of our incredible church partners, LaGrave Avenue CRC, for generously opening your space to host our gathering! We’re also grateful to MexiCuba for providing beautiful live piano music, EL Granjero Mexican Grill for the delicious food, and Rosa Bella Floral & Gifts for the lovely arrangements that brought everything together and helped create such a warm and welcoming experience for our guests.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to support the work we are doing together. We are grateful to have you walking alongside us as we walk alongside our neighbors! 💚

Jesus didn’t lead from a distance. He walked into homes, into hard conversations, into the ordinary rhythms of people’s lives. One dusty road, one dinner table, one neighbor at a time.
That’s the way we try to follow Him. Learning names, not just needs. Not grand gestures or quick fixes, but steady, reliable presence.
For almost 60 years, that’s what the love of Christ has looked like here, because we know that way of love is meant to be shared. We aim to embody the spirit of 1 John 3:18 – “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Love made tangible, not abstract.

We were honored to partner with Heart of West Mich United Way for their annual Day of Caring last week! 🤝

A wonderful group of volunteers from CASA of Kent County spent their morning with us, rolling up their sleeves and giving our community garden some much-needed TLC for the fall. From mowing and w**d whacking to compost maintenance and more, they jumped right in to make sure our Garden of Eatin’ was ready for the changing seasons. 🌱

We are so grateful for these volunteers who brought their time, energy, and heart of service and to the Heart of West Mich United Way team for making this incredible day of impact possible!

Thank you to PuttPuttsBar for teeing up for the West Side! ⛳️ We were honored to be a beneficiary of its annual golf outing at Wallinwood Springs Golf Course earlier this month. The event brought together more than 140 golfers from the Putt Putt’s community, all sharing our commitment to building a stronger West Side. 🤝
We are incredibly grateful for their generous support and to everyone who came out and made the day a great success. Thank you for helping us build a flourishing community together one swing at a time! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️
