2.

i understand is non-profit organization, social media group and apparel campaign to support those who have lost a loved one by su***de or struggle with mental illness. By supporting i understand, you help to erase the stigma and judgement associated with mental illness and su***de. Based in Ada, Michigan, i understand provides compassionate comfort to individuals and communities by hosting monthly

educational awareness events. Through a partnership with Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, i understand delivers mental health care packages to patients in West Michigan and families around the world. i understand was created by Vonnie Woodrick in 2014 in loving memory of her husband Rob who lost his battle with depression in 2003. i understand does not provide counseling or clinical mental health services. Help keep our hearts whole after the sudden loss of someone who died by su***de. i understand is a campaign to let others know they are not alone after such a loss. Our hearts are immediately broken and added to the pain are the questions, the stigma, the guilt, the confusion and the tears. The survivors of su***de must live with all those emotions and the misconceptions. Simply, by joining us and wearing an i understand t-shirt, you are giving all of us who have lost a loved one to su***de, have attempted su***de or suffer from a mental illness, a relief that there are friends among us who truly understand. Here are some things to remember that can help eliminate the stigma surrounding su***de:

1. i understand mental illnesses are treatable
3. i understand stigma is the #1 reason why someone would not seek treatment for mental illness; education and awareness are vital to saving and changing lives
4. i understand reaching out to those who are suffering could save a life; let someone know you are available and treat them with respect and compassion
5. i understand most people who are suicidal do not want to die; they want their pain to end
6. i understand speaking out about su***de may empower others to share their stories
7. i understand feelings of guilt are part of the grieving process on the way to finding peace and acceptance
8. i understand those who die by su***de do make it to heaven

💝This is what happens when you're still here.

You get to feel the love, the gratitude, and the support that comes from opening up and sharing your life experiences with others who truly understand.

🎂Last night, we celebrated a birthday at our Su***de Attempt Survivor Support Group. There was cake, laughter, hugs, and a wish made for another year ahead.

Birthdays can feel especially meaningful when you've survived the moments that made you question whether you'd ever see another one.

🥳If you’re an attempt survivor, we are so glad you’re still here, we wish you many happy birthdays ahead.

If you are struggling today, please remember this:

🌎The world is a better place with you in it.

💗Support is available 24/7. Reach out. Talking saves lives.

💗We are kicking off June by saying something nice… YOU look beautiful today!

It’s National Say Something Nice Day. When you’re out and about today, be sure to give a compliment to someone. You could just make their day, and bring a smile to your own face.

👟We are stepping into a June filled with opportunities to learn, support one another, and continue important conversations.

💙 National Men's Health Month reminds us that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Real strength is found in connection, vulnerability, and reaching out when we need support.

💗Make It a Self-Care Sunday: Find a Reason to Smile!

😊Today is National Smile Day, and we're smiling because of what we accomplished together during Mental Health Awareness Month.

It was a busy, yet incredibly impactful month spent sharing resources, encouraging conversations, supporting one another, and bringing mental health conversations into everyday places throughout our community.

🤗We're smiling because people showed up. They attended support groups, participated in trainings, shared their stories, volunteered their time, and reminded others that they are not alone.

😊And we're especially smiling because this Tuesday, June 2, our Su***de Attempt Survivor Support Group will gather once again. We are grateful to witness the lives of those who are still here to live, laugh, love, heal, and continue writing their stories.

💗As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we're carrying that hope with us into June. The conversation continues. The support continues. The healing continues. The smiles continue.

😊Today, take a moment for yourself. Smile, and feel the many benefits a smile has on your mental health.

💗From Vintage + More to Rising Together!

A special evening was had being amongst so many “rising” women!

🥰Thank you, Heather Mahoney Co for introducing women who are Rising Together. A beautiful way to connect and learn more about women who inspire and influence.

💗Thank you, Heather Mahoney Co for honoring women with Rising Together, and for gifting us with great headshots!

I’m incredibly honored to be one of the women recognized at the Rising Together event this evening at Noto’s.

There is something powerful about women coming together to encourage, support, and inspire one another, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

🦋I’ll be sharing a copy of my little book with each guest tonight. It was written from lessons I learned after loss, healing, and finding my way forward again. My hope is that within its pages, every woman is reminded that even through life’s hardest changes, beauty and hope can still be found.

💗To all women who rise together everyday, may we never underestimate the power of showing up for one another, sharing our stories, and reminding each other that even throigg life’s hardest moments, we are never alone.
