๐ตโ๏ธ Stay Safe in the Arizona Heat, Healthy Kids! โ๏ธ๐ต
Arizona summers are no jokeโand while we love seeing our runners out practicing and having fun, safety always comes first! ๐
Here are a few important tips to keep your young athletes safe while running and playing outdoors:
๐ง Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Make sure kids drink plenty of water before, during, and after activityโeven if they donโt feel thirsty yet.
๐ก๏ธ Run early or late
Temperatures can soar quickly! Plan outdoor activity in the early morning or evening when itโs cooler.
๐ Dress smart
Lightweight, breathable, and light-colored clothing helps keep bodies cooler. Donโt forget sunscreen and a hat! ๐งข
๐ Know the signs of heat illness
Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, or unusual fatigue. If something feels off, itโs time to stop, rest, and cool down.
๐ณ Take shade breaks
Short, frequent breaks in the shade can make a big differenceโespecially for younger runners.
๐โโ๏ธ Listen to your body
Encourage kids to speak up if they feel too hot or tired. Itโs okay to slow down or skip a day when temperatures are extreme.
Letโs keep our runners safe, strong, and smiling all season long! ๐
