Nationwide, pregnancy loss affects 1 in 4 families. But within our military community, the data reveals an even heavier reality.

According to our 2025 Military Family Building Survey:
👉 Over 70% of respondents reported experiencing TWO or more pregnancy losses during their family building journey.

Repeat loss in the military isn't an anomaly. It is a reality compounded by duty by navigating grief in a new state after a PCS, managing physical recovery during partner deployments, or hitting TRICARE coverage barriers when seeking specialist care.

Data like this is why we fight for policy reform. We cannot fix what we do not measure.

Every loss matters. Every baby is loved. Every story deserves to be remembered.

On October 15, Building Military Families Network (BMFN) invites you to join us for our Virtual Wave of Light as we come together across time zones to honor the babies gone too soon and wrap our military and veteran loss families in community support.

At 7:00 PM in your local time zone, families around the world will light candles, creating a continuous wave of light in remembrance. Whether you have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, TFMR, or another form of pregnancy or infant loss, you belong here. Your baby matters. Your grief matters. You are never alone.

Military life can make grief feel especially isolating—navigating loss amidst deployments, moves, or distance from family support. This virtual event is a dedicated space for our community to pause, honor the babies we carry in our hearts, and stand together.
