Incredibly proud of the Red Lake Nation Youth Council members who took the stage at the 2026 Old Crossing Treaty Conference at Huot Park. Standing on the very grounds where our ancestors fought for our sovereignty, our youth leaders delivered a presentation on tribal sovereignty, treaty obligations, and what it means to protect our borders today.
RLNYC Secretary, Leo Loud, took the stage to break down the specific articles of the historic 1863 treaty, explaining exactly what was promised, what was taken, and how those legal texts continue to define our tribal sovereignty today.
Our youth aren’t just learning our history—they are analyzing it, speaking on it, and leading the way forward.
Miigwech to our young leaders: Leo Loud, Jacob Andersen, JayShawn Dominguez, Isaac Jourdain, Donald Kingbird-TeJohn, Tyler Andersen and Kynsie May for carrying the torch.
