The July Community Meeting has been cancelled due to its scheduling near the Independence Day holiday weekend.

We hope our residents take part in the festivities across the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County, marking 250 years of American independence. Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July!

THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD BZA HEARING ON LUXURY MOTOR GROUP, IS SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 2026 AT 2 PM.

Case 172-26, 173-26, & 174-26

In 2023, Luxury was been denied all permits to operate and were even denied the use of property of which they currently utilize. They fought the TOH in Supreme Court to have the denial over turned. The Supreme court sided with the Town of Hempstead and Luxury lost on that level as well.

They continue to allow test driving of cars at high speeds on our streets, including the streets that lead directly to Washington St. School. Claflin Blvd is also being utilized right to the Rath Park area. Disruption of neighbor's lives and the lack of safety they show for our children, pedestrians and motorists can no longer be tolerated! We can not allow this business to continue to load & unload car carriers on Hempstead Tpke(blocking a lane of traffic) and on residential streets.

IT'S TIME LUXURY MOVES OUT!

As always, the "COMMUNITY LEAGUE OF GARDEN CITY SOUTH, your fighting Civic, will attend this hearing to fight for our residents and the quality of life we all deserve!

In September 2025, a select group of community leaders, appropriatly referred to as "THE ROUNDTABLE", convened to explore collaborative strategies for enhancing our town. These meeting have been taken place sporadically over the last several months. This consortium comprises the presidents and top representatives from the following organizations:

1. Community League of Garden City South Inc.
2. Representative of NCPD Police Commissioner's Community Council
3. Franklin Square Union Free School District
4. Franklin Square School District #17
5. Franklin Square VFW Post 2718
6. Franklin Square Munson Fd
7. Franklin Square & Munson Fire District
8. Morton Civic Association
9. Franklin Square Civic Association
10. Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce
11. Franklin Square Public Library
12. Franklin Square Historical Society
13. Nassau County Fire District Association.
14. Elected Officials & Office Representatives.

We determined that "Flag Day 2026" would serve as an ideal opportunity to put our discussions into action on a smaller scale.

On this occasion, the Franklin Square District Organizations united with community members to exemplify the true meaning of community spirit, WORKING TOGETHER FOR POSITIVE CHANGES.

Thank you to SANDY'S PARTY SUPPLY for the donated ribbons and the Frank P. Curry Jr. VFW Post # 2718 for the donated flags. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jared Bloom donated the Zip ties to secure everything to the poles.

This collaborative effort resulted in the decoration of every lamp post on Hempstead Tpke, Nassau Blvd., Franklin Ave., New Hyde Park Rd., and Dogwood Ave., with small flags and bows, successfully executed through joint efforts.

The Community League of Garden City South, after a difficult year, is back fighting for the quality of life we all deserve.

This is what it means to be a community! Coming together to find solutions.
Rather then running to Social media, our neighbors showed up and joined in the conversation. Thank you neighbors, we appreciate you!

Many Thanks to the Town of Hempstead Supervisor of Enforcement, Jon Lipinsky and Code Enforcement Officer, Joe Corio for sharing your knowledge.

The NCPD 5th Pct P.O.P. Unit Officer Caggiano and Lt Flinn, once again proved to be exceptional examples of all that is positive dedication in our law enforcement Officers.

Tony's Taco's donated and served delicious tacos and addressed the community in a positive movement to be a business Franklin Square can be proud to support.
