As the first Civic on Long Island we were incorporated by NYS in 1929 to serve ALL of FSSD #17 & FSUFSD.

In 1929, originally a Civic serving Nassau County, we narrowed our service to Franklin Square School District #17 in 1951, as more Civics formed

Today, at the annual Ragamuffin Parade, it seemed only fitting that the COMMUNITY LEAGUE OF GARDEN CITY SOUTH along with the TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, were able to honor Pat Argenzio, the late Commander of GCS/WH VFW Post #335.

Thanks to the Hempstead Town Supervisor John Ferretti, Councilman Thomas Muscarella and town employee Matt Capp, the flag pole at the Garden City South Community Park now bears a plaque in Commander Argenzio's name to forever memorialize his love of America, the Park, and the Ragamuffin Parade. His proud family was presented with a duplicate memorial plaque for their keeping.

A surprise visit from TOH Receiver Jeanine C. Driscoll , Assemblyman Ed Ra, Legislator John Giuffre added to the festivities.

The VFW's traditions were kept with each child receiving a goody bag of candy, including a Hershey Bar (donated by TNT Liquidators ) and a $1.00 bill. In addition every child was able to bring home a pumpkin. To end the event, every adult & child were given Hotdogs and beverages, donated by Wildfork & Giuffre' Law Office, P.C.

It's such an honor to witness community service at such an early stage in life Katie and her brother, William, are exceptional children who are already community orientated at such young ages. Children learn by example . This kindness and dedication is instilled in them by their Community oriented parents, Anna McCombs & William McCombs , who are wonderful role models for their children to follow!
