Join us for an evening of fast-paced shooting, learning, and fun. Photographers pair up into teams of two, and each team gets one model, two lights, and ten minutes on the clock to create their best image.

It’s a great way to meet the community, get hands-on time with lighting and models, and stretch your creative muscles under a little friendly pressure. Whether you’re brand new to studio lighting or a seasoned pro, you’ll walk away with new ideas and new friends.

**What scares you?**

Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Fear has a funny way of showing up in our photography businesses. It keeps us from trying new things, taking creative risks, charging what we're worth, and sometimes even believing we're good enough.

But what happens when we stop letting it make our decisions?

That's what we're exploring at the 2027 MainePPA Convention: Knock Fear Out of Focus.

April 16–18, with a bonus day on April 19, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport.

We're bringing photographers together to learn, grow, challenge themselves, and maybe get a little uncomfortable along the way.

Driven to Create is coming to Scarborough.

We’re taking over Throttle Car Club for a full day of bold portraits, dramatic lighting, models, and some seriously incredible cars with photographer and educator Bruce Royal.

This isn’t a sit-back-and-watch kind of class. Bruce will walk you through creating stylized, cinematic portraits where the cars become part of the story — and then you’ll get the chance to shoot, experiment, and create for yourself.

We’re keeping this one intentionally small with just 16 spots, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to learn and shoot.

MainePPA Convention is back April 16–19, 2027, and this year we’re talking about something every photographer deals with: fear.

We’re bringing together photographers, educators, and friends for a weekend of learning, creating, connecting, and pushing ourselves a little outside our comfort zones.
