We are heartbroken over the loss of Nyesha. Our thoughts go out to her family and the community that held her so dear.

Saginaw CAP mourns the sudden passing of one our founding members, yet we celebrate the life of Nyesha Clark-Young — an artist, activist, and powerful voice in our community.

Her creativity told our stories. Her advocacy challenged injustice. Her presence made an impact that will continue to live on through all of us.

Rest in power, Nyesha. Your light will never fade. 🕊️

Please keep her children, family, and friends in prayer during this difficult time.

We are proud to partner with Saginaw CAP for this project.

Saginaw Community Alliance for the People (CAP) is proud to announce its participation in the Healthy Community Zones initiative, a project funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) in partnership with the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance (MiHIA). The Healthy Community Zones initiative provides $8 million in funding to organizations across Michigan to reduce health disparities in underserved communities. This targeted initiative is designed to address racial health disparities by creating more equitable opportunities for well-being and long-term health across Saginaw, with a special focus on African-American residents.

“For far too long, health outcomes in communities of color have been shaped by systemic inequities,” said Nyesha Clark-Young, HCZ Program Director. “Through the Healthy Community Zones initiative, we are taking strategic, community-led steps to ensure every resident has access to the resources, education, and environment they need to thrive.”

CAP has launched a set of health-focused programs designed to improve access and outcomes for families and individuals in Saginaw, including data analysis on health, housing and the environment.

Our friends at Thecasemade highlighted their Strategic CaseMaking principles and focused on solutions-based approaches to building strong cases for support. Our partners at Conduent HCI also joined us to provide a demonstration on how to use our Dashboard to access health data.

We are proud to be partnering with Data-Driven Decisions L3C to offer this wonderful opportunity for home-based child care providers servicing Bay City. This grant-funded cohort provides free technology, training, and resources to help your child care business thrive. They are still accepting new providers that serve at least 60% of children living in the city limits of Bay City.

In these uncertain times, it is crucial to unite, share knowledge, and collaborate to create a strategic path forward. Please join us for a webinar on March 12 aimed at empowering non-profits, institutions, and local governments to utilize data effectively, build compelling cases for support, and collaboratively explore potential new funding sources.
