Blankets for the kittens? Count us in. 🐱

During a recent CASS Cares outing, our Core Members visited Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, where they made fleece blankets for the animals before spending a little time meeting some of the kittens.

We love finding opportunities to give back while getting to know the organizations that make our community a better place. Thanks for having us, Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control!

CASS Academy Small Groups are coming to Auburn!

Our Small Groups offer focused, 6-week life skills sessions for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each session focuses on one topic, with opportunities to build practical skills in areas like cooking and housekeeping, finances, safety, healthy relationships, and community engagement.

Our first Auburn Small Group begins September 23 and will focus on money skills! Participants will spend six weeks building practical skills and confidence around understanding purchases that are needs versus purchases that are wants.

Applications for this upcoming session are due September 14. Applications are also accepted on a rolling basis for future sessions!

DeKalb County — we’re coming your way!

Join us on Thursday, September 3 for a free Meet & Greet at the YMCA of DeKalb County! Come meet the CASS team, play some games, enjoy light refreshments, and learn more about CASS Academy small groups coming to DeKalb.

This come-and-go event is for DeKalb County adults (18+) with an intellectual or developmental disability who have exited high school and their families. Family members are more than welcome to stop by on their own, too!

Some of the best summer memories are the simplest ones.

Ice cream at Kilwins Fort Wayne, mall adventures, DeBrand’s visits, and spending time together—it's been a fun summer for our Core Members.

These everyday moments help build friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging, one outing at a time.

Safety first!

Our CASS Academy cohort and small group members took a trip to Safety Village this week. They learned about fire safety, road safety, and how to stay safe out and about in the community. It was the perfect field trip to solidify the safety guidelines they’ve been learning in their CASS Academy classes.

Meet Tyler and Garrett (or Twiggy and G-Money, as they prefer to be called)!

These two go way back. They’ve been friends since middle school, and after graduation, they attended a college program together.

Now, they’ve joined our new CASS Academy cohort together to grow in their independence.

This is how growth should happen: in community, alongside friends.

We love seeing these two live it out!

Meet Desirea!

One of Desirea's favorite things about summer is spending time with her housemates. Whether they're sharing meals, laughing together, or simply enjoying each other's company, those everyday moments are some of her favorites.

If she could travel anywhere in the world, she'd love to visit Greece, Italy, or Hawaii.

Lately, she's also proud of taking a new step by starting to attend a church near her.

We're so glad Desirea is part of the CASS community and can't wait to see where her journey takes her next!

Back-to-school season has officially arrived at CASS Academy!

This week, we welcomed our second Academy cohort as they begin a two-year journey together.

The first day was filled with new conversations, lots of laughter, and a Skittles game that quickly turned strangers into classmates. Before long, tables were buzzing with conversation and new friendships were already beginning to form.

Every journey toward greater independence starts somewhere. We can't wait to see how this group grows over the next two years through learning, encouragement, and community.
