UA Local 2209 Retiree Chapter had a peanut butter drive for some summer protein for children. Over 500 pounds of peanut butter were donated. A big thanks to Diana Bovie-Koomler who organized it.

Thanks so much to James and Antonio of M.I.S.F.I.T. Ministry for dropping off a donation of 1,400 lbs. of beautiful watermelons! These will be a big hit with our guests!

Volunteers turned soil into sustenance at Miss Virginia’s! 🌱 On May 16 we planted peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, melons, flowers and sowed rows of collards, chard, carrots, kale and beans. A hearty group of earth loving voluteers helped in so many ways to provide a place to grow fresh produce for the guests of Miss Virginia's. On Saturday, May 16, the planting of 24 peppers, 48 tomatoes, 16 eggplants, 8 cucumbers, 3 mounds of melons, and 1 bed of flowers. We sowed 2 rows of collards,....

Hello, old friend! Jerry Burch stopped by today. He volunteered at the pantry for 14 years. His brother, Larry, died recently, and Jerry was here to present the us with donations made in the name of Larry and his family. Thank you, Burch family!

Garden Clean-up Day is this Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Tasks include clearing last year's beds and preparing for planting on Saturday, May 16th. Many hands make light work. See you there, 1312 S Hanna St.

Members of Miss Virginia's Food Pantry board of directors Laura Dwire and Dan McNamara attended a Board Series 3-part workshop offered by the Foellinger Foundation. The Workshop was led by Aly Sterling Philanthropy, a nationally recognized consulting firm that specializes in board governance and fund raising.
