What is Pug Partners of Nebraska? Pug Partners of Nebraska is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing purebred pugs

Mission
Pug Partners of Nebraska is a 501c3, non-profit organization comprised of dedicated volunteers who are committed to rescuing and re-homing pugs in need. We believe that all pugs deserve a chance to be loved and to love a human companion. A majority of our rescue pugs come from what is called a puppy mill (a mass breeding facility), we are very dedicated to these special dogs and providing

them with the life they deserve. Our main purpose is to provide all of our rescue pugs with a loving foster home, quality dog food, medical care, and any other need that they may have while in our care. Our ultimate goal is to place each pug into a forever family that will continue to show the pug love, attention, and provide the care that they each deserve. We strive to educate our adopters and the public about our wonderful pug breed. Although pugs are quite different from most breeds, we want to show people how amazing these small dogs can be, and how they are great companions. Vision Statement

Pug Partners of Nebraska provides a service to the community for pugs in need, by rescuing purebred pugs that are in shelters, puppy mills, whose owners can no longer care for them, and for those who have become lost/abandoned and to place them in a loving and safe permanent home where they will be loved and cared for as companion pets. Goals of Pug Partners of Nebraska

To accomplish our mission, Pug Partners of Nebraska strives to:

Rescue adoptable pugs from a variety of situations and place them into loving foster homes until their permanent home can be found
Treat all pugs like our own, by giving them behavioral and medical attention that they need
Act as advocates by protecting and advancing the pug breed by encouraging responsible pug ownership and by rescuing pugs from unsafe or abusive situations
Carefully screen all volunteers to ensure that the most knowledgeable pug experts in the community are on board with pug Partners’ mission
Help reduce the pet over-population crisis by ensuring that all pugs adopted through our rescue are spayed or neutered
Have useful information available to those interested in adding a pug to their family
Provide the community with superior knowledge of the pug breed cooperate and network with other animal rescue organizations in the community and world-wide
Incorporate programs to help the rescue succeed and involved more volunteers.

🐾 A HUGE thank you to The Green Spot for stepping up in a big way for our recent intake of foster pugs! 🐾

As an added bonus, The Green Spot's owners, Jessica and Whitney, are also founders of Pug Partners. On top of that, they're longtime fosters and adopters, so their support isn't just generous, it's personal. 💛

💛 An Update on Donny 💛

We wanted to check in and share how our sweet boy Donny is doing.

Since our last update, Donny had a rough stretch. He went through a difficult stomach episode that left him very tired, uninterested in food, and he lost a noticeable amount of weight. It was a scary few days, but we're happy to share that he's since bounced back and is doing better.

Donny continues to be closely supported by his care team, including regular acupuncture and check-ins to help manage things like his appetite, digestion, and sleep, all of which can be affected by his condition. Some nights are harder than others, and his needs continue to shift, but his team is staying attentive and adjusting his care to keep him as comfortable as possible.

Through it all, Donny remains with his foster family, the Hansens, who continue to give him endless love, patience, and care every single day. We're so grateful for them.

Ah, nuts! Oliver loved settling in with a good toy. Oliver (previously Clyde) was rescued in 2021 at age 7 by pug mom Marijo. He passed away last year at age 11. 🌈 💛

No one hopes they find themselves in this situation, but it happens. A lease change, a new baby, a divorce, a health crisis, a loss, or just a fit that isn't working despite your best efforts. We've heard every version of this story, and we don't judge any of them. 🧡

If you're thinking about surrendering your pug, please read this first.

Take a breath. Needing to rehome your pug doesn't make you a bad owner. It makes you human.

Here's what happens when a pug comes to Pug Partners:
🐾 Full vet exam
🐾 Vaccines as needed
🐾 Microchip
🐾 Spay/neuter if needed

And then straight into a loving foster home. We're an all-foster rescue, so every pug lives in a real house with a real family. This lets us get to know their personality and quirks so we can find them exactly the right forever match. (Shelters do vital and necessary work too. We're thankful for everyone working to find animals safety and care.)

And to everyone reading this who isn't surrendering a pug right now, we'd ask you for something too: empathy. It's easy to judge from the outside, to assume you'd never be in that position. But none of us know what someone else is carrying: a job loss, a diagnosis, a grief we can't see. ❤️‍🩹 The kindest thing you can do for a pug in need is help their person feel safe enough to ask for help before things get harder for everyone, including the dog. If a friend or family member is struggling with this decision, be the person who says "have you heard of Pug Partners?" instead of the person who makes them feel worse for even considering it.

If it's time for your pug to find a new chapter, we'd rather you come to us than feel like you have no options. No judgment. Just help.

🏠 Home for good: A Pug Partners alumni update! 🏠

Theo and Maggie are on neighborhood watch. There will be no nonsense happening on their watch!

Pug mom Marijo shares that Maggie was rescued in 2016 at just 10 weeks old, and she recently celebrated her 10th birthday! Theo is 2 years old and was rescued last September. They've taken up nosy neighbor duty from prior PPN adoptees Murphy and Oliver, who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈💛

These are just a few of the wonderful pugs whose stories started with PPN — but there are so many more out there, living their best lives thanks to the people who opened their hearts and homes to them. Every wrinkly snore, every dramatic howl, every "baked pugtato" moment is proof of what's possible when a rescue pug finds the right family.

Hi, for those who don't know me, I'm Jill, and I run this account. 👋🏻 I'm the one writing the "you might just fall in love" captions every week. Today I'm writing one about myself.

Bella came to us as an owner surrender. She was deeply loved and well cared for, but her owner's circumstances changed in a way that meant she needed a new home. That's one of the hardest parts of this work: knowing a pet was cherished, and still needing to find them somewhere new to belong. 💔

My husband Rob volunteered to foster Bella while I was out of town. Ninety minutes after picking her up, Rob messaged me that he thought she should stay. I'll admit, I needed a little more time. After all, I hadn't even met her yet! But I came home, met this sweet girl, and understood what he meant. She's sweet, goofy, and it felt like she was already home. She's is Rob's shadow, following him everywhere!

So here we are. Foster fail official. She's not going anywhere. Welcome home, Bella Bear! 🐻🏠💕

Today's all about celebrating the good boys and girls who make our lives better just by being in them including the snugglers, the zoomie monsters, and everyone in between. Whether they're wrinkly, wiggly, or just a little bit weird (our favorite kind), dogs deserve a whole day dedicated to how much joy they bring us.

🎉 Beans Just Landed His Happily Ever After! 🎉

Beans really hit the jackpot with his new family! He's headed into a home with two human siblings and a canine sibling — a full, lively house ready to welcome him with open arms.

A huge thank you to his foster mom, Jeri, for opening her home to Beans, showing him love and patience, and helping him grow into the confident boy who's ready for this next chapter.

This is what rescue is all about — not just finding a pug a home, but finding the right one. Congratulations to Beans and his new furever family! 🐾💛

💛 To Our Volunteers: We Couldn't Do This Without You 💛

Behind every pug that finds its forever home is a small army of people making it happen, and none of it would be possible without our incredible volunteers.

From the foster families who open their homes and hearts, to the drivers who log hundreds of miles on transport days, to the adoption coordinators reviewing applications, the medical coordinators managing vet care, the team managing our website, volunteers who write grants and help fundraise, and everyone behind the scenes keeping this whole operation running, thank you. Truly. Every single role matters, and every single one of you makes a difference in these pugs' lives.

Pug Partners is an entirely volunteer-run organization. That means every application, every message, and every update is handled by people who are doing this alongside their full-time jobs, their own families, and their own pugs at home. Doing it all because they love this mission and believe every pug deserves a second chance.
