We are a journal of literature from the University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing and Transl

The Arkansas International seeks to publish the best literature from the United States and abroad. Launched by the University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing & Translation, The Arkansas International is published biannually and considers previously unpublished fiction, poetry, essays, comics, and works in translation.

Issue 18 is here! The gorgeous Spring 2026 issue of the Arkansas International includes work by Frank Stanford, C.D. Wright, Geffrey Davis, Henry Dumas, Ben Bird, Ukata Edwardson and many more! With a luminous cover by Carroll Cloar and a Gustav Carlson comic written by Charles Portis, the author of True Grit. Plus a Nigerian folio curated by Uchenna Awoke and Abuchi Modilim. It’s our Arkansas-themed issue, with works by writers and artists with a significant connection to the Natural State.

Come out of the cold and meet other lit-minded folks while we read amazing fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. We are now open for submissions for our Fall 2026 Themed Issue on Labor. Send us your stories, poems, comics, and non-fiction about all the ways we labor, whether emotional, physical, or mental. How does labor form and inform our lives? What does our work say about what we love, or about what or whom we care for? What does it reveal about what we hate or fear? Hired labor, hard labor, labors of love, or laborious revenge, all of it creative fodder. Send us your best, unpublished work by January 15, 2026!
