Preserve Your Ozark History: Free Digital Scanning Events in Gentry and Gravette! 📸📜

The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is hitting the road to help you digitize and safeguard your family stories, historical photos, letters, and regional documents for future generations.

Our team will scan your items on-site—you keep all original physical materials along with a free digital copy. With your permission, copies will also be preserved in the Shiloh Museum archives to help protect our region’s rich history and culture!

🌾 Meet the 2026 David Stricklin Research Fellow, Chen Chu!

A PhD student at MIT, Chu spent the week exploring the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies’ collections as he researches agriculture, rural communities, and the policies connecting local economies to global markets.

His dissertation examines agricultural trade liberalization since the 1980s, with a focus on two major rice-growing regions: California and Arkansas.

Today is the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Devil's Backbone. In 2017 the state placed an Historical Marker at Stroud Cemetery, 3400 Stroud Road (intersection Stroud and Nickeltown Roads). Local/Nashville performer, Jabe Burgess, wrote and performed this song about the battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUYhtgsbXS8
