2026 Family Literacy - STEM Night

This event is open to all families with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th graders attending Farmington Public Schools. Everyone in the family is welcome to participate in the literacy activities and enjoy the pizza dinner.

Each family will receive one STEM kit, and all family members can take part in the dinner and other activities.

📍 Maxfield Education Center's Board Room
32789 W 10 Mile Road, Farmington

⏱️ 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Please park in the rear of the building, in the lot next to the FPS bus yard, in order to enter the board room.

The cost per family is $10, and the fee is due by November 3rd. You can pay the fee online (by using donate button) with a credit card or bring cash or a check to our office. Our office is located at 32789 W 10 Mile Road, Farmington, MI 48336.

Space is limited, so be sure to register soon to save your family's spot! We can’t wait to see you there for a night of learning and fun!

Last Wednesday, local Entomologist and Farmington Public Schools graduate, Cole, shared knowledge at our “Bug Bites” program. Students learned the differences between bees and wannabees; how to create slides and examine them under a microscope; how bees impact the food on our plates; and more! They also had the opportunity to sample the honeys examined that evening, as well as try edible crickets and mealworms. For dessert, Cole brought us “chocolate chirps” made with cricket flour. Finally, students got a chance to meet and hold Stefan, a Madagascar hissing cockroach. It was a fun and informative night for families! Thanks to everyone who came out to learn or to volunteer!

Come discover how bugs are connected to the food we eat every day and enjoy fun, hands-on activities, including:

🍯 Discover where your honey comes from through a fun experiment
🐝 Create your own bee craft to take home
🍯 Sample different honeys and other bug-inspired foods
🐛 Meet and greet special bug guests
🔎 Learn about the important role bugs play in our everyday lives

2026 Middle School Summer Camp

Farmington Youth Assistance is excited to present a dynamic Summer Camp designed specifically for middle school students. We extend our gratitude to the Farmington Area Goodfellows for their generous donation, which made this camp possible!

This hands-on Summer Camp will feature various activities, including Math Enrichment, Book Club, and hands-on STEM learning

The camp is open to all incoming 7th to 9th-grade FPS students and will take place at Farmington STEAM Academy on July 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Farmington Youth Assistance (FYA) is seeking nominations for its 41st Annual Youth Recognition Awards. We are looking for YOUTH or YOUTH GROUPS who deserve recognition for their extensive service, but who may not normally receive it from the community at large. One of the goals of Farmington Youth Assistance is to encourage positive examples of youth volunteerism. Nominate the deserving youth or youth group for the awards!
