FAIRFIELD — Eight different Solano County high school baseball teams will compete in seven Sac-Joaquin Section playoff divisions it was announced on Saturday.
Rodriguez, Vacaville, Armijo, Fairfield, Vanden, Dixon, Buckingham and Vacaville Christian all qualified for the postseason. No play-in games will be required for any of the area teams and first-round games will begin Wednesday at 4 p.m
Rodriguez received the No. 3 seed in Division III and will host No. 14 Whitney. The Mustangs are 20-7 overall and won the Monticello Empire League title with an 11-1 record. Whitney is 10-16-1 and finished seventh in the Sierra Foothill League with a 7-10 mark.
Vacaville is No. 8 in Division III and will host No. 9 Lodi. The Bulldogs are 19-9 and finished second in the MEL at 10-2. Lodi is 18-9 and finished second in the Tri-Valley Athletic League at 11-4.
Fairfield is the No. 13 seed in Division III and will play at No. 4 Yuba City. The Falcons are 14-11 and tied for first in the Greater Sacramento League at 10-2. Yuba City checks in at 13-13 and took third in the Foothill Valley League at 11-7.
Armijo is the No.16 seed in Division III and will take on top-seed Rio Americano. The Royals are 10-14 and finished third in the GSL with a 7-5 mark. Rio Americano is 22-6 overall and won the Capital Valley Conference with a 14-4 record.
Vanden is No. 9 in Division IV and will open at No. 8 Oakmont in Roseville. The Vikings are 15-11 and finished third in the MEL at 7-5. Oakmont is 14-14 and took second in the Pioneer Valley League with a 9-3 mark.
Dixon is the No. 16 seed in Division V and will play at top-seed Lincoln. Dixon is 11-14 and went 8-10 in the Golden Empire League for fifth. Lincoln is 21-3-1 and won the PVL with a 10-2 record.
Buckingham is No. 14 in Division VI and will play at No. 3 Bear River in Grass Valley. Buckingham is 12-5 overall and won the Sacramento Metro League with a 9-1 mark. Bear River is 15-10 and took fourth in the PVL at 6-6.
Vacaville Christian is the top seed in Division VII and will open with a first-round bye after posting a 15-4 record. The Falcons finished second in the Sierra Delta League at 10-2. Vacaville Christian will await the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 8 Foresthill and No. 9 Millennium for its first game on Friday.
