This LGBTQ+ Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ kids, parents, and families in our community. ❤️🧡💛💚💙

All families deserve to be seen, respected, and supported. Belonging matters, especially for young people as they grow and figure out who they are.

We’re committed to continuing the work of building a community where every child and family feels safe, supported, and accepted for who they are. 🧡

Repost from Solano Public Health ☀️

California's Summer Food Program for Children, also known as SUN Bucks, provides $120 per eligible child to help families buy food during the summer when school is out. SUN Bucks cards, which work just like CalFresh benefits, will begin arriving in late May and will continue to be delivered through this fall.

Most eligible families do not need to take any action, as children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, or receive CalFresh, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), and/or Medi-Cal are automatically enrolled. Children will also be automatically enrolled if their school identifies them as being in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or part of a migrant family.

Families of children who are not automatically enrolled may apply by submitting a school meal application or Universal Benefits Application to their child's school by August 31, 2026, to receive SUN Bucks benefits for summer 2026.

For cardholder assistance, the SUN Bucks helpline is available 24/7 at (877) 328-9677. Live agents are available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. To check your benefit balance and claim status, visit the California EBT cardholder website.

Helping children and adolescents manage anxiety can take patience, support, and the right tools. Simple activities at home can help young people cope with worries, build confidence, and feel more calm and secure.

The American Academy of Pediatrics created this family handout with practical activities families can try together to help children and teens manage anxious feelings.

Supporting your child’s mental health and resilience starts with the 3 Rs: Reassure, Return to Routine, Regulate.

These simple steps from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) help families and caregivers navigate the challenges of parenting, especially when they or their children have experienced trauma. They offer practical ways to help children build coping skills, feel safe, and grow confidence every day. 🧡

• Reassure: Let your child know they are safe with kind words, hugs, or cozy spaces at home.
• Return to Routine: Consistent meals, bedtime, and daily schedules help children feel secure and know what to expect.
• Regulate: Teach skills to manage emotions, like deep breathing, stretching, naming feelings, or guided relaxation.
