Aurora Evansville

Aurora Evansville Aurora is a local non-profit whose mission is creating solutions to prevent and striving to end homelessness in our community.

We believe that everyone has value and needs a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. Aurora serves more than 1,000 men, woman and children each year through seven programs: Two Homeless Prevention Programs (Re-Entry and COVID-19 Homeless Eviction Prevention) and 5 programs that for those experiencing homeless to permanently end their homelessness (Homeless Outreach, Rapid Rehousing, Hous

ing First, Beacon, and Vision 1505). Aurora is a leading catalyst in identifying gaps, establishing innovated and permanent solutions, and drawing together interested parties to ensure that homelessness becomes a problem of the past. We believe in a “Housing First” model, meaning a homeless individual or household’s first and primary need is to obtain stable housing, and that other issues affecting the household can and should be addressed once housing is obtained.

Aurora was honored to welcome Senator Todd Young's Field Representative, Allie St. Germain, for a visit and conversation about one of Indiana’s most pressing challenges: housing affordability and homelessness.

We are grateful to Senator Young for his strong support of legislation and initiatives that help expand affordable housing opportunities and strengthen communities across Indiana. His leadership recognizes that stable housing is foundational to economic opportunity, health, and quality of life.

Homelessness does not discriminate by political party. People experiencing homelessness come from every background, community, and political viewpoint. Addressing this crisis requires leaders willing to work across ideological lines to find practical, effective solutions.

At Aurora, we believe lasting progress will only come through bipartisan collaboration. We remain committed to working with elected officials, community partners, and advocates from all perspectives to expand affordable housing, prevent homelessness, and help our neighbors achieve housing stability.

Thank you again to Allie St. Germain for taking the time to visit, and to Senator Young for his continued commitment to addressing housing challenges facing Hoosiers across our state.

🚨Goodie Bag Fillers Needed! 🚨
We are officially prepping for Aurora’s Annual Golf Scramble at Fendrich Golf Course! We have a full house this year across both our morning and afternoon flights, meaning we need to build 200 high-quality player goodie bags.

Every single team on the course is helping us get more people and into sustainable housing.

A big thank you to Noah Robinson for stopping by and for his continued support of Aurora’s Re-Entry Program.

As communities across Indiana discuss the potential impact of Senate Bill 285 on their unhoused neighbors, we are grateful for the strong partnerships we have in Vanderburgh County. Aurora is fortunate to work alongside the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department, whose commitment to compassion, dignity, and diversion efforts helps create better outcomes for some of our community’s most vulnerable residents.

We appreciate the care and respect our neighbors are shown when interacting with law enforcement and are thankful for the collaborative approach that makes our community stronger. We believe that people experiencing homelessness are not a problem to be solved, but people to be loved. We are committed to partnering with community leaders who share that commitment.

Huge SHOUTOUT to Mark. Your continued partnership is cherished by everyone we serve here at Aurora.

From an ECHO team member:

“I want to share a quick story about one of the things that makes working at ECHO so fulfilling. We were finally able to get a longtime referral off the streets and into a place of his own 💜

The story starts all the way back in December of 2025, when he was first referred to us by Aurora. When we first tried to meet with him about getting him into housing was too scared to meet. He had been living on the streets for a long time. We would try to meet with him to get things set up, and he would not show up for the application meetings. Unfortunately, we had to close his referral in January due to no contact.

Thankfully, in April 2026, he was referred to us again. This time, with strong collaboration with Aurora, we were able to set up meeting times. With solid collaboration, ECHO and Aurora were able to make him feel comfortable and ease his fears about transitioning from the streets into permanent supportive housing. A few weeks ago, we were able to officially hand over the keys to his new home!”

This was truly a collaborative team effort by ECHO and Aurora Evansville to help identify his needs and ways to help make him feel safe and comfortable 🏠

Celebrating Student Success at Vision 1505

The children and young adults living at Vision 1505 achieved some impressive educational milestones this year.

All school-aged children successfully completed the school year and will advance to the next grade. Three children graduated from Pre-K at Cedar Hall, while Kevin completed 8th grade at AIS and will attend Reitz Memorial High School this fall. Cheyanne graduated from Cedar Hall and will continue her education at Central High School.

We also celebrated two high school graduates. Al'lycea graduated from Central High School and plans to attend Ivy Tech while working. Brea graduated from Bosse High School and the Academy of Science and Medicine and earned a scholarship to the University of Evansville, where she plans to study pre-medicine.

These accomplishments highlight the determination of Vision residents and the bright futures ahead of them. We congratulate all of our students and their families on a successful year and look forward to supporting them as they pursue their educational goals.
