Each year on Labor Day we pause to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being. We would like to recognize and thank once again all of the generous union members who helped to build Holly's House and continue to support us in our work.

A common misconception of child s*x trafficking is that it is hidden away from the public and nearly impossible to spot. However, it often occurs right before our eyes. Knowing some of the signs of trafficking can help save a child.

If you suspect an incident of child s*x trafficking, please call the NCMEC hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or make a report at CyberTipline.org.

This national post is a sad reminder that Child Sexual Abuse Material is being used for child exploitation in our community. However, thanks to two CyberTipline reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received by detectives with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office the case was investigated and an arrest was made.

We all have a role to play in keeping children safe from abuse. Even if you just suspect a crime is taking place you need to report it. There are children counting on you!

Today seems appropriate for a Way Back Wednesday photo from the Holly's House ribbon cutting in 2008! In the past 18 years our advocates and child forensic interviewers have worked with law enforcement, prosecution, Department of Child Services, medical providers, and mental health care providers to serve more than 8,000 clients and their families. Our prevention education staff have provided free body safety programming to more than 140,000 elementary students. We are grateful for our co-founders and all of the volunteers over the past 18 years who helped us get our start and help us to continue serving our community!

With kids back in school and schedules full of activities, it's hard to fit is all in. Making time to have one-on-one moments is important not only to know what's going on in a kids life now, but you're also building a foundation so they know they can come to you later. Whether it be in the car, bedtime, or somewhere in between make it a regular habit to spend time together.

We're so excited to have a new 7 Brew Coffee in our neighborhood and are grateful for the coffee they dropped off for our staff last week!

We are incredibly grateful this month for the generous donations of time, materials, and labor that helped repair the Holly's House parking lot! Since the beginning, we have relied on volunteers to help solve big issues and a sink hole in front of the building was the most recent. We appreciate Kathy Boyd and her determination to make sure Holly's House is safe inside and outside and asking her friends to help!

Holly's House hosts the Brian Turpin Service Awards yearly, named after our co-founder. This award is for an individual, or group, who exemplifies excellent service to abuse survivors in our community. Nominations are open until September 23 and we welcome you to nominate someone today!
