Greater Evansville Youth Powered by IYG Greater Evansville Youth (G*Y) is now Greater Evansville Youth Powered by IYG! All programs and services are offered free of charge.

Greater Evansville Youth Powered by IYG exists to provide a safer space to educate, empower, and support the lives of LGBTQ+ young people in Evansville and the surrounding area. Empowering q***r young people and inspiring younger generations since 1987, IYG is North America's longest continuously serving organization for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. Our organization serves young people ages 12-24 who self-identify as LGBTQ+, as well as their allies. G*Y Powered by IYG strives to provide safer spaces to build self-confidence, explore individualism, and develop friendships within the LGBTQ+ community. IYG promotes a space of acceptance, equity, and restorative practices. We also advocate for q***r youth in schools, the community, and through family support services.

This Halloween, we're turning trick-or-treating into an opportunity to give back! The Greater Evansville Youth food pantry is running low, and donations of food can make a meaningful difference for LGBTQ+ young people who rely on our center.​

🗳️ Your voice matters. You deserve to vote safely and confidently.

For transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse Hoosiers, going to the polls can come with concerns about being questioned, challenged, or turned away because of who you are. You deserve to have your voice heard without having to navigate those worries alone.

That’s why IYG is once again inviting you to TRANSform the Polls, an initiative to help make voting a safer, more affirming experience during Indiana’s General Election early voting period.

Through our safety in numbers approach, eligible voters can request to be accompanied by IYG staff when they go to the polls. We’ll work with you to coordinate a time and location based on staff availability, and if your first choice doesn’t work, we’ll explore alternatives together.

If you've been following Axel's posts this year, let's say their "out of the picture" for the month of October. 👀

This week, Gary wants everybody to know about a youth program we have here monthly called "Mental Chillness". Whether it's meditation, reflection or just some quiet time away from the noise, Mental Chillness has it all. Come hang out and join this or tons of other programs at the center!

Happy 7-year Anniversary to Greater Evansville Youth! 🎉

So much has changed for us in this time but the focus on our mission, the care that goes into what we do, and the commitment to safety has always stayed the same!

From:
-starting as a very grassroots organization
-not having a set home
-meeting less frequently
-and the hospitality that Patchwork Central showed us for years allowing us to find a temporary home there

To:
- becoming Greater Evansville Youth Powered by IYG
- being able to create an amazing community center for the youth and young adults in our area
- having awesome resources
- and meeting 4 times every single week
-finding more amazing, dedicated staff

This has been an incredible ride, and I am so honored to have been a part of all of it. The dedication and hard work put in over the years by the staff, volunteers and young people has just made this continue to grow and evolve. Each year, each part, each change throughout this time has been so pivotal to creating who we are now, and I wouldn't change a thing. 💜

One of the biggest ways to consistently help us out is through donating center night meals! 🥗🍝🥖 Once a month, bi-monthly, or even as a one-time assist, a hot meal can go a long way in supporting our center.
