United Way of Southwestern Indiana is a nonprofit organization that brings together individuals, nonprofits, businesses, partners and government to address priority issues that impact our community. We invest resources raised through our annual fundraising efforts into initiatives that are meeting people's basic needs and in programs that are addressing long-term solutions. (We believe) all children in Southwestern Indiana deserve the best start in life and we work to ensure all children enter school prepared to learn. (We believe) our economy depends on a prepared workforce and we work to ensure all Southwestern Indiana youth achieve their full potential. (We believe) every family should have the opportunity to meet their basic needs. We work to increase the financial stability of working families. (We believe) families and individuals should have access to affordable health care. We work to bridge the gaps in services for people in need of access to mental and physical health care. We can accomplish these things by investing our resources in programs that meet people’s immediate needs and programs that build on long term solutions. Only when we work together with all sectors of our community can we advance the common good and change our community for the better.

🌶️ Chili, Movies and Cash for a Great Cause! 🎬

The team at Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn, LLP (KDDK) recently cooked up some friendly competition for their annual employee campaign, raising money to support the United Way of Southwestern Indiana!

While attorney Dylan Murphy earned bragging rights as the Chili Cook-Off Champion, he also found himself on the losing side of KDDK’s Dollar Wars fundraising battle after being recruited by fellow attorney Seth Zirkle, who ultimately landed in the hot seat. As a result, the duo dressed up as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn from the movie Dumb and Dumber. Dollar Wars is a fun fundraising competition where employees donate to “vote” for a coworker to take on a humorous challenge, all in support of a great cause.

Dylan and Seth might've come out “losers” but boy did they wear it well.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE PUPPIES! And kitties too.

Volunteer with Greater Good Charities to help the Vanderburgh Humane Society Shelter Renovation! Projects available to help with painting, assembling furniture, installing signage plus exterior yard, fence and shade structure work.

This renovation project will help create a more welcoming, functional, and enriching environment for the animals, staff, volunteers, and adopters who rely on Vanderburgh Humane Society every day.

Vanderburgh Humane Society has been serving pets and people in the Evansville community for nearly 70 years. As a leading animal welfare organization in the region, VHS provides shelter, medical care, adoption services, and other resources to help animals in need find safe, loving homes.

Boys & Girls Club of Evansville still need volunteers for their Halloween Carnival + Haunted House this Friday, Oct. 30th. They're looking for volunteers to help run the carnival games at the event. They'll provide 30 minutes of training for the game you're assigned and give you help cleaning and clearing the assigned area after the event.

A HUGE thank you to Traylor Bros., Inc. , Inc. for supporting us through their annual Chili Cook-Off on Friday. Ten teams competed for the title of Chili Cook-Off Champion and Tina Reed and Chris Blair from United Way, along with Roland Shelton from Old National Bank served as judges. It was a TOUGH decision but team Chili Vanilli were crowned champions. Watch the video to see all the fun. All the money raised from the event goes to support the United Way of Southwestern Indiana...including the winning money from the half-pot, which was graciously donated BACK to the United Way!
