It’s conference week for ICAT 2026: Moving Mountains!

This week, we’ll be spotlighting our keynote speaker, celebrating our generous sponsors, and sharing final opportunities to register.

Today’s Keynote Spotlight features Dr. Amber Elizabeth L. Gray, PhD, MPH, LPCC, BC-DMT, NCC. Her keynote, “Be the Mountain,” invites participants into an experiential exploration of breath, rhythm, movement, and dance as pathways to embodied resilience, resistance, and reciprocity.

Our in-person conference experience is almost sold out! Friday is officially full, and Saturday has only 2 spots remaining.

Virtual registration is still available for Sunday, with no capacity limit. Virtual conference registrants will also have access to the keynote, either live or recorded.

Join us for this powerful weekend of creativity, connection, and care.

Sometimes caring for your mental health looks like reaching out, stepping outside, and being part of something happening close to home.

This summer, Evanston residents have access to free community events that make connection easier, including Downtown Summer Sounds at Fountain Square and the City of Evanston’s Starlight Concerts & Movies in the Park series.

At Institute for Therapy through the Arts (ITA), we know wellness is shaped by more than one part of life. Community, movement, music, routine, and belonging can all help build protective factors that support mental health and resilience.

Local events are not a replacement for mental health care or Creative Arts Therapy, but they can be one meaningful piece of a connected, healthy life.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re continuing to explore the supportive power of creativity in everyday life.

This week’s creative check-in focuses on music — one of the most familiar ways many of us pause, reflect, remember, release, and reconnect.

Creativity does not have to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes, a song can help us notice what we are carrying and what we may need next.

What song(s) help you feel more like yourself? 🎶 🧡

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Throughout the month, ITA is highlighting the healing power of creativity and the many ways it can support mental health, connection, and care.

Creativity is not reserved for artists. It belongs to all of us. It can begin with a song, a color, a movement, a story, or a quiet moment of reflection. It can help us express what is hard to name, reconnect with ourselves, and find a place to begin when words feel out of reach.

Follow along this month as we share simple creative tools, reflections, and reminders to help make room for more good days, together.
