FOUNDATION UPDATE:

The Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Foundation was started in 1999 to help young adults with cystic fibrosis be able to pursue their dreams of a higher education at a community college, university, or a vocational school.

As many of our donors know, CFSF has been a one-person operation since its inception, with no paid employees, and all the administration has been done by me. I have made the decision to cease any further fund-raising efforts and only continue to write checks for those students who have been awarded a scholarship. The Foundation made its last scholarship awards in April 2020. This was a difficult decision, but I know that our young adults with CF have many more opportunities for assistance now than 20 years ago when I began this journey. The website includes sites to explore opportunities for scholarships.

This would not have been possible without the support you have given to our young people over the years. I am forever grateful to you for your help in allowing over 950 young people with CF pursue their dreams of a further education. The Foundation awarded over $2 million over the 20 years. I know I speak for every one of them in thanking you for your support.

I wish to express my appreciation for all of those who have helped our young adults with CF pursue their dreams during the past twenty years, especially the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

Enjoy our memories from our wine tasting event at the end of January. A good time was had by all. Hope to see you all again next year on the last Sunday of January to explore wines from another part of the world.

CFSF would like to thank everyone who joined us yesterday afternoon for our Australian wine tasting. Our young adults with CF thank you for your support of their dream of a further education.

CFSF is pleased to announce the Jill M. Balboni Memorial Scholarship for 2015. This award is dedicated to Jill who lost her life long battle with CF in July 2013 at the age of 36. Jill was a lover of life and lover of learning. She received her Bachelors, Masters and PhD and still managed to enjoy every day with a smile while spending time with her family and friends. The scholarhip has been established by four of Jill's lifelong friends. They want to take Jill's enthusiasm for life and "can do" attitude and apply that to thier mission of providing a college scholarship to a young high school senior with CF who emobdies all that Jill stood for and accomplished in her life.

The scholarship is a $20,000 award of $5000 per year. More information on how to apply and the requirments will be on our website in the next several days.
