Just got this video from Scott, one of our program members. He works in the kitchen on the weekends and was showing me what we’re serving for dinner tonight at the Rescue Mission.

Yesterday we had the Little Caesars Love Kitchen at the Mission and they made a ton of pizzas for us. We warmed them up and served them to our guests for dinner. I did hear about one complaint from someone who took a video and PM it to me on our Rescue Mission Facebook saying the pizza was hard. So I looked into it. Turns out, most of the pizzas were just fine. We probably warmed one or two of them a little longer than we should have, and they got hard. Unfortunately, that person happened to get a piece from one of those.

I guess some people aren’t happy unless they have something to complain about, and honestly, that comes with the territory. We serve people who are going through some really difficult circumstances, and I understand that sometimes that frustration comes out in different ways.

But hopefully that same person comes through the Mission tonight and gets to enjoy this massive dinner. 😎

We’re blessed to be able to serve meals like this, and we’re thankful for everyone who helps make it possible.

We’re already scraping by, and now we’re stuck hauling these ancient, unusable TVs to the dump. Every penny counts right now, so dealing with this kind of waste is tough for us. Another challenge is when items get dropped off after hours, things can get scattered around and it makes it much harder for our small team to care for them. Our hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. We truly appreciate your generosity, and we’d love your help in spreading the word so donations come in during open hours. That way, we can make sure every gift you give gets put to good use.

Shoutout to our New Life Program graduate Andrew Johnson —he’s working as a clerk at the Pinnacle fuel station in Eureka! Super proud of him and how far he’s come. From the challenges he’s overcome to the consistency and commitment he’s showing now, Andrew is a reminder that change is possible. At the Eureka Rescue Mission, we see miracles every day—men and women once trapped in addiction and homelessness are now walking in freedom, reuniting with families, holding jobs, serving in churches, and becoming productive members of our community.

18 years ago I narrowly escaped a 6-year prison sentence because God saw fit to give me another chance. I entered into the Eureka Rescue Mission's yearlong Men's New Life Discipleship Program, graduated, went to work at our thrift store for 3 months, and then returned back to the shelter as house manager. After a couple of years I became the Men's Shelter Director and then the Executive Director of the Eureka Rescue Mission. I have been in this position for 12 years now—13 this September. I speak from experience.
