Congratulations to Margaret Theisen, recipient of the 2026 Elizabeth "Lisl" Waechter Award! π
This prestigious award recognizes individuals whose dedication, leadership, and advocacy have significantly improved the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities.
For decades, Margaret has been a champion for inclusion, opportunity, and community engagement. As former Executive Director of Pearl Buck Center, she helped shape services that empower individuals and families while strengthening our community. Her leadership extended across Oregon and beyond through organizational development, advocacy, workforce initiatives, international training, and the founding of innovative programs that continue to make a lasting impact.
Among her many accomplishments are founding Full Access, serving as Chair of the Oregon Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Coalition, receiving the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities Champion Award, and leading organizations recognized as some of Oregon's best places to work.
Margaret's unwavering commitment to ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to live, learn, work, and thrive embodies the spirit of the Elizabeth "Lisl" Waechter Award.
