I wanted to pass on the message that Friends of Zumwalt Park would appreciate it if folks did not attach signs,posters, Etc to trees. It is very harmful to the trees to drive Nails, bolts and screws into them it allows a pathway for disease. We are a community that works to keep Zumwalt as natural and healthy as we can.

There were news reports yesterday June 18th of blue green algae at Fern Ridge. This is the time of year to pay attention for your children and dog's sake. It would be wise to keep your pets on a leash until you see the water condition. Blue green algae comes and goes it may be at one part of the lake and nowhere else or it may come through for a couple hours and be gone later in the day. Please be vigilant.

The next work party at Zumwalt will be Saturday November 18th at 9:00 a.m. please enter the park from Jean's Road and drive into the Central Parking Lot. We will be spreading bark on trails, doing a little w**d eating and for those who aren't able to do any of those things I will bring loppers for removing invasive species and a pooper scooper. Hi all, this is a reminder of the April Fools work party at Zumwalt at 9am .Yes it is really happening! We will be doing more ladder fuel reduction along the northern edge of the meadow along the water. We will also be doing ivy removal from the trees. Please bring gloves, loppers and w**d eaters with a blade if you have them, Water is also a good idea, cookies will be provided courtesy of Toni.
The next two work parties are: April 22(Earth Day) and May 6, both are Saturdays and we always start at 9 and end at 11.
If you have been to the park lately you will have seen the large piles of chips the county has left for us. This will be super helpful on the trails as we have always had a shortage of chips. There will come a time shortly when the birds are nesting that we can't do w**d eating in the forest and will start work on the trails again. So a big thanks to Lane County Parks.

Hi all, just a reminder that we have a work party this Thursday at 9 am.Please enter from Jeans Rd. We will be finishing the ladder fuel reduction on the east side of the meadow.We will also remove ivy from trees. I will bring several w**d eaters and a chainsaw. Please bring long handled pruners,gloves and water. Be aware there is poison oak throughout the park.Please join us for a fun time at the park.The next work party is Saturday, Feb. 18th.Thank you for joining us.Mary Monette

The FOZP is still up and running!!! There was a brief hiatus, but a small band of people have chosen to remain invested in the group.
