On February 19, Room to Read marked an extraordinary milestone by signing an official agreement with the Ministry of Education of Zambia. We first began working in Zambia in 2008 and for nearly a decade, we:
Benefited over 530,000 children with foundational learning skills

Supported 613 schools

Established 487 school libraries

Published 20 locally written and illustrated children’s books in Zambian languages

Distributed more than 1 million learning materials

New language loading... ⚙️ We've adapted books in ! 📚 🎉

In the , most early learning materials are in English, despite the fact that most children grow up speaking Dhivehi within their families and communities. That's why we have adapted a collection of Room to Read original children’s storybooks into Dhivehi, along with reading activities and training resources to support educators.

Our vision is bold: We will distribute copies of the adapted titles to every single primary school in the Maldives, with the potential to benefit 40,000+ young readers!
