Coastal Roots Farm’s new yearlong incubator is designed to nurture artistic voices at the intersection of Judaism and the climate crisis. The Jewish Climate Artists for California Incubator will bring together six performing artists from across the state to explore, create, and premier new works that inspire climate action and resilience.

Over ten months, participating artists will deepen their connection to Jewish and ecological wisdom and wise action through performance. The program begins with a five-day retreat at Coastal Roots Farm in September 2025, continues with bi-weekly virtual gatherings, and culminates in workshops and live performances at our Regenerate! Eco-Performance Fest in May 2026.

Selected artists will receive a $2,000 honorarium, travel support, and connections with leading Jewish and environmental thinkers, ritual leaders, and artistic directors.

For funders and partners: This program is made possible by The Covenant Foundation and other visionary supporters. If you’re passionate about the power of the arts to drive social and environmental change, join us in making this work possible. Email Philanthropy Manager Sara Blodgett at [email protected] for details.

When we imagine and share new stories about the earth, the climate crisis, and the future we hope for, we come much closer to creating that future. We build our world from the stories we tell, and far too many current stories are helpless, despairing or confusingly naive. Let's tell more resilient, comforting, hilarious and inspiring eco-stories, towards a more loving, equitable, and spiritually joyful world! Head over to the Eco Jewish Play Fest at 7/16 at 5:30pm and we’ll see you there!

She earned a World Choreography Award nomination for her work on the French feature "The Dancer" (premiere Cannes Film Festival). Sperling is developing ecokinetics, a practice cultivating the relationship between the moving body and ecological systems and throughout the pandemic, has been focusing on programming street festivals and producing dance media. Sperling holds a BA in Dance & Italian Studies from Wesleyan University, an MA in Performance Studies from New York University, and an MFA in Dance from Montclair State University.

Time Lapse Dance (TLD) is an all-women 501(c)3 dance company founded by Sperling in 2000. Our Story

EcoArts Foundation inspires ecological regeneration via the arts. Artists are leading multilevel cultural change with rich media addressing contemporary environmental challenges and solutions. By celebrating art that sets a high bar with socially-responsible content, we aim to provoke audiences -- policymakers, scientists, artists, and citizens -- to create vibrant, thriving ecosystems. We engage a diverse community from university students to international eco artists via creative educational events and content. Current Programs: The Let's Talk About the Weather podcast with Britta Nancarrow, the EcoArtist Challenge and our first ever EcoArtsTV experience. Stay tuned here and at ecoartsfoundation.org. Due to close partnership with Climate Science Alliance, we are grateful to operate under 501(c)3 fiscal sponsorship of the CA Wildlife Foundation.
