Chuck DeGroat, PhD, LPC, is returning to New York from Michigan, bringing decades of experience at the intersection of counseling, Christian spirituality, pastoral formation, and church leadership.
Originally from Long Island, Chuck now serves as Professor of Counseling and Christian Spirituality and Founding Executive Director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He is also a faculty member with the Soul Care Institute and founder of The Soul Care Collaborative.
As a licensed therapist and ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Reformed Church in America, Chuck has served churches in Orlando and San Francisco before dedicating his work to training, forming, and caring for pastors and leaders. His work focuses on pastoral health, spiritual abuse, religious trauma, narcissism in church systems, and the deep inner work needed for faithful, healthy leadership.
