Women’s History Month is about honoring voices of today and tomorrow and these two young artists are already making their mark.
On Saturday, March 14, two incredible young artists from the Edge School of the Arts (ESOTA) took the stage at the MODArts Dance Collective’s Collective Thread Festival at the Harlem School of the Arts.
Last year, Kaleigh Ogunniyi made history as the youngest choreographer selected for the festival. This year, she returned once again to share her creative voice on stage.
Kaleigh’s piece, Rise, is a modern contemporary duet that encourages people to rise from their mistakes and overcome their challenges. Through movement and connection, the piece reflects how friendship can help you get back up when you fall, powerfully brought to life by both dancers on stage.
Kaleigh alongside her ESOTA classmate and dance sister, Mariah-Renee Pratt were once again among the youngest dancers participating in this year’s event, proudly representing ESOTA with confidence, creativity, and heart.
ESOTA is incredibly proud of both Kaleigh and Mariah. We celebrate their creativity, leadership, and commitment to their craft. These young artists remind us that the future of dance is bright, bold, and full of possibility.
