Women’s History Month is about honoring voices of today and tomorrow and these two young artists are already making their mark.

On Saturday, March 14, two incredible young artists from the Edge School of the Arts (ESOTA) took the stage at the MODArts Dance Collective’s Collective Thread Festival at the Harlem School of the Arts.

Last year, Kaleigh Ogunniyi made history as the youngest choreographer selected for the festival. This year, she returned once again to share her creative voice on stage.

Kaleigh’s piece, Rise, is a modern contemporary duet that encourages people to rise from their mistakes and overcome their challenges. Through movement and connection, the piece reflects how friendship can help you get back up when you fall, powerfully brought to life by both dancers on stage.

Kaleigh alongside her ESOTA classmate and dance sister, Mariah-Renee Pratt were once again among the youngest dancers participating in this year’s event, proudly representing ESOTA with confidence, creativity, and heart.

ESOTA is incredibly proud of both Kaleigh and Mariah. We celebrate their creativity, leadership, and commitment to their craft. These young artists remind us that the future of dance is bright, bold, and full of possibility.

This Women’s History Month we are proud to celebrate ESOTA alumna Nia Davis, whose choreographic work “A Thousand Words Left Unsaid” was selected for the Made by Women Festival at Arts On Site in New York City.

Nia was featured in the festival’s live performances on March 13, joining a select group of choreographers invited to present original work during this annual celebration of women creators in dance.

Nia has been a company dancer with Visceral Dance Chicago since 2022. She continues to create works of her own, participate in other dance projects and share her artistry while teaching classes throughout the year at Visceral Dance Center and The Dance Project.

Her selection for the Made by Women Festival and presentation of “A Thousand Words Left Unsaid” highlights the continued growth of her artistic voice and the impact she is making in the dance community.

We are incredibly proud to see ESOTA alumni shaping the future of dance and uplifting women’s voices in the arts.

Congratulations, Nia!

This Women’s History Month, we proudly celebrate ESOTA alumna Dr. Ayana K. Cole-Price, MD, MSc, a physician, community leader, and changemaker whose work bridges medicine, advocacy, and storytelling.

Dr. Cole-Price is currently a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery resident at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan). She earned her medical degree and Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from NYU Grossman School of Medicine after completing her undergraduate studies at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at The City College of New York. Her work in medicine reflects a deep commitment to healing, service, and expanding access to care.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Cole-Price is the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Empower My Hood, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding college access and opportunities for students in underserved communities.

This past weekend, her inspiring documentary “United in Healing” premiered at Black Spectrum Theatre. The film highlights the journeys of Black physicians and explores themes of resilience, representation, and the importance of community support in the medical field. Through personal stories and lived experiences, the documentary shines a light on the challenges and triumphs of physicians of color, while inspiring the next generation of future doctors.

The official release goes live today at 3 PM, and we encourage everyone to tune in and support this powerful project.

From the dance studio to the operating room and community leadership, Dr. Cole-Price continues to inspire the next generation. We are proud to celebrate one of our own this Women’s History Month.
