The middle school years bring big changes for both students and the adults in their lives, and Edina Public Schools is here to support them every step of the way.

Join EPS on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6-8 p.m. at South View Middle School for an engaging evening with Chris Balme, bestselling author of “Finding the Magic in Middle School” and a global leader in adolescent education.

Drawing on more than 20 years of experience, Chris will share research-based strategies to help families better understand the middle school years, navigate challenges, and strengthen relationships with their children.

You’ll gain practical tools to:
* Understand the middle school brain and behavior
* Support resilience, independence, and social growth
* Partner effectively with your child’s school

This event is free and no registration is needed.

Edina Unified Playdates

Edina Unified is a program that bridge special needs students with their typical peers. Unified includes simple things like reaching a book or coloring together. All abilities, schools, and ages are welcome. Connect with old friends and make new ones. Upcoming dates are: Sunday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to Noon at Countryside Elementary (fenced in playground). We’re reading for the stars, Cornelia! ✨📚🔖

Readathon is off to a strong start. Our super star students logged over 119,000 minutes of reading so far, putting us 39% of the way to our 300,000 minute goal.

And, thanks to the generous support our community we’re 29% of the way toward our fundraising goal of $25,000.

Art Adventure is a program through Minneapolis Institute of Art that brings art (and parents) into Cornelia classrooms for lively discussions and fun art projects. Teacher, students, and volunteers all love participating — it is something the students really look forward to each month.

Is your child in Ms. Carroll, Ms. Muehlberg, or Mrs. Jansen’s class? We're still looking for parents (or other trusted adults) to volunteer in these classes to make Art Adventure possible. See the link in the comments to sign up.

It was great to have so many students and families participating in walking, running, and rolling at this morning's Cornelia Cruisers Fun Run. Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make this event possible. 🏅👟

And we want to send a shout out to those from the Cornelia community who joined Edina Unified in representing Edina Public Schools at the Special Olympics MN Move for Inclusion Walk which was happening at the same time at Lake Cornelia. A portion of the funds raised at the walk will go back to support Unified programming in our EPS elementary schools. 💚

📣📣 Apply for the CPSS Community Advisory Committee
Edina Public Schools is looking for parents and caregivers to serve on the Culturally Proficient School Systems (CPSS) Community Advisory Committee (CAC). 📣📣

The committee brings together families and staff from across the district to share perspectives, identify opportunities for growth, and collaborate on ways to strengthen inclusion, belonging, and student success.

The district is seeking members who represent our early learning through high school communities. Members serve two-year terms and meet three times each academic year. Membership is limited to 20 people, so not all applicants may be selected. Current CAC members do not need to reapply.

Interested in serving in this volunteer capacity? Complete the CPSS CAC application by Friday, Oct. 16. Selections will be made and all applicants notified by Wednesday, Oct. 21, and the first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29.

Are you headed to the Twin Cities Marathon this weekend to cheer on runners? We know there are several teachers and staff (as well as parents) who are participating as runners.
