Commuter Services We encourage the use of alternative transportation including biking, walking, carpooling and, where possible, teleworking.

We work with businesses, commuters, and residents in our member cities: Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka, and Richfield.

🎡 Headed to the Minnesota State Fair? Get there sustainably! 🚌🚲

The Great Minnesota Get-Together is just around the corner, and there are plenty of ways to skip the traffic, parking hassles and extra expense.

🚌 Take the bus: Metro Transit, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and SouthWest Transit offer State Fair Express Buses all 12 days of the fair, with dozens of free Park & Ride lots available.

🚲 Bike: Three free, staffed bike corrals are available on the fairgrounds.
♿ Accessible options: Metro Mobility provides accessible bus service.
🚗 Other options: Rideshare, taxis and designated parking are available for e-motos, e-scooters and motorcycles.

Whatever your mode, planning ahead can make your trip to the fair easier, less stressful and more sustainable.

🚧 I-494 Construction Update: Project 1 is nearing the finish line!

Good news for drivers in Edina, Bloomington and Richfield: Project 1 of the I-494 reconstruction is expected to wrap up this fall, and many current road closures could be coming to an end soon.

That said, eight roads remain closed through August, along with several ramp and lane closures—so construction impacts are still very much in play.

🚌 Metro Transit service changes coming Aug. 22

Metro Transit will roll out its quarterly route updates on Saturday, Aug. 22, including changes to Route 14 serving Richfield.

📍 Part of the Richfield segment will be rerouted, and routes 14D, 14G and 14N will be eliminated. Alternative service for those routes will begin as Route 48.

We’re celebrating two recent Commuter Services pledge drawing winners!

🚲 Ben Hovorka of SJJ Law pledged to bike to work once during Bike Month—and won an electric bike! He says biking around the city “opens your eyes to all the wonderful experiences it offers,” while driving can mean zipping right past them.

🚗 Vipul Vaidya of Best Buy pledged to try carpooling and won a $150 Visa gift card! His favorite part? “You get to spend time with friends and share a few thoughts. It makes traveling a little less stressful.”

That’s what we love about trying a different way to get around—you might save money, reduce stress, get active, connect with others, or discover something new.
