Today is the first weekend for our SwimTester season! Tune in here for bacteria results for the Miles, Wye, and Eastern Bay!

Grasses are back in our creeks! The water clarity in the lower parts of our rivers has been incredible this spring, and as water temperatures rise, so are the underwater grasses, also known as SAV. These underwater grasses provide critical habitat for fish, crabs, and waterfowl, help stabilize muddy bottoms, and improve water quality by absorbing excess nutrients.

Did you spot underwater grasses on this beautiful weekend? Share your photos and locations in the comments below. We’d love to see what you’re seeing across the watershed!

Paddle into one of Kent Island’s hidden gems!

Join Ben Ford, Miles–Wye Riverkeeper, for a guided eco-paddle launching from Kent Island Resort as we explore the scenic, winding waters of Thompson Creek. This relaxed outing is all about soaking in the beauty of the Eastern Shore, spotting wildlife, and enjoying the quiet creeks that make this place so special.

Along the way, you’ll hear how ShoreRivers is working to protect and restore these waterways—and why clean rivers are key to supporting recreation, local businesses, and our growing eco-tourism economy.

After the paddle, stick around and unwind at the Beach Bar at 18Twenty with a drink token (with purchase) 🍹

Spots are limited—come experience the Shore from the water.
