When in doubt take action! ๐ฑ
This sweet girl showed up at an active trapping location, and it was immediately clear to us that she wasnโt your typical stray. She was clean, affectionate, and comfortable with people. Everything about her said ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ค๐ข๐ต ๐ช๐ด ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ญ-๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฅ. ๐ป
One of our followers thinks we should leave cats like this alone. ๐ค She thinks we are luring cats into traps and taking them away from their home. Her concern is that we are knowingly taking someone's pet away. What do you think? What would you do?
For us, it comes down to this:
We are ๐๐ค๐ข๐ข๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ to doing what we believe is best for each individual cat, based on the situation in front of us. โ
And in this case, leaving her outside without knowing her story didnโt feel right.
Why would we leave an obvious pet outdoors not knowing the situation? Sure, she could have been an indoor/outdoor cat who was just out for a stroll. ๐ Or, she could have escaped her home and been lost or could have even been left behind. Without knowing, the safest and most compassionate choice was to step in, make sure she was cared for, and actively try to find her family. So thatโs exactly what we did.
We made several posts online, alerted the shelter, and put up flyers.
And then something amazing happened. CVRR volunteers put up flyers at 3:52pmโฆ and by 3:57pm, we got the call. โ๏ธ
Nyxโs mom. ๐ค
She had pictures, lived nearby, and had been searching for her sweet girl. Nyx had slipped out while a sitter was there and her owner was on vacation. She came home and spent the entire night looking for her.
Because we acted, Nyx is home. Safe. Loved. Exactly where she belongs. ๐
We were also able to talk with her owner about microchipping to protect Nyx in the future. She was incredibly receptive and will definitely get that done. Even more, she shared information about other cats in the area, which will help CVRR continue TNR efforts and connect more dots in the community.
So yes, this was a success! ๐
Not because we were โright,โ but because a cat is safely back in her home, and more help is now on the way for others.
