SOS Sink or Swim SOS is dedicated to teaching children and adults how to swim and be safe in the water. SOS approached the St.

With the help of donations and partner support, SOS has provided more than 10,000 free, learn-to-swim sessions at community pools since 2014. OUR HISTORY

SOS Sink or Swim began in 2014 as a program of the Miles River Yacht Club Foundation. Michaels Community Center (SMCC) for assistance with signing up students for swimming lessons. SMCC worked with other local groups such as Critchlow Adkins Chi

ldren's Centers, Talbot Mentors, churches, schools, and local police departments to attract students to the program. Talbot County Parks & Recreation manages the two participating public pools and has provided life guards and swimming instructors each season. Since the summer of 2014, SOS has provided thousands of swimming lessons at the Bay Hundred Community Pool in St. Michaels and at the George Murphy Community Pool in Easton. More than 1,400 students have registered for our program! The SOS program has flourished and is now widely recognized as an essential and potentially lifesaving program for our community. Following a record breaking season in 2016, and with the blessing of the Miles River Yacht Club Foundation, SOS searched for a new fiscal sponsor that would be better equipped to grow lead the program into the future. Since 2017, SOS Sink or Swim has proudly partnered with ("docked at") the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Thanks to your support, we were able to provide ❤️1,253❤️ FREE, LIFE-SAVING swim sessions this summer! That includes:

🛟 1,100+ 2-week children's learn-to-swim sessions
🛟 80+ 1-week adult learn-to-swim sessions
🛟 40 1-week junior lifeguard training sessions

In total, SOS has provided ❤️NEARLY 12,000❤️ free swim sessions since our founding in 2014. This is such a wonderful testament to the legacy of our beloved Libby Moose and her fellow co-founders!

...And that's a wrap on another incredible season of sun😎, swimming🏊🏾, and safety🛟! Today was our final day of adult and jr. lifeguard lessons, closing out the season with two big classes whose skill and confidence in the water has grown by leaps and bounds! 🎉🎉🎉

Thank you to the 💙 Talbot County Department of Parks and Recreation 💙 for administering this program and making a life-saving opportunity available to thousands of local families each summer!

🚨OUR LAST KIDS' SWIM SESSION OF 2026 BEGINS MONDAY!🚨

There's still plenty of summer left, but our swimming lessons are coming to a close. Our last 2-week kids' session begins Monday, July 20th, and both our final 1-week adult session and 1-week junior lifeguard session begin on August 3rd.

These life-saving lessons are 🛟FREE🛟 for everyone, but prior registration is required.
