Muck and Cluck Monday is back, with a fun fact about the regenerative poultry farming we connect farmers to and help teach across the United States.

In pictures of chicken paddocks, you often see straw on the ground instead of dirt. Farmers practicing Tree-Range Farms farming spread straw and mulch within their paddocks to create ground cover, build soil, and reduce erosion and runoff.

Regeneration is built through relationships: between people, land, animals, and the systems that connect them.

From chickens raised in perennial paddocks and hazelnut trees being planted on new farms, to the partnerships and community that continue to grow around regenerative work, every part of this ecosystem exists because we chose to build it together.

Regeneration starts with relationships between people, not with what you do on the land.

This year, we were honored to present certificates of appreciation to farmers practicing Poultry-Centered Regenerative Agroforestry (PCRA), including families who have been part of this ecosystem for more than ten years.

What began as a vision has become a reality: a viable go-to-market channel for regeneratively raised chicken through Tree-Range Farms a locally established poultry processing facility through Stacyville Poultry Processing, and the continued development of regional value chain businesses, jobs, and infrastructure. None of this would exist without the commitment, patience, and dedication of the farmers who choose to grow together alongside this ecosystem year after year.

We’re grateful to Clean River Partners for joining us on the farm, for sponsoring this year’s Regenerative Poultry Convergence, and for the work they continue to lead across the Cannon River Watershed.

Through conservation agriculture, habitat restoration, crop research, and community engagement, Clean River Partners brings people together around a shared responsibility to care for land and water. Their work supports farmers, landowners, and communities in making practical changes that strengthen the health and resilience of the region.

Thank you, Clean River Partners!

We are grateful to the Forever Green Initiative, https://forevergreen.umn.edu/, for sponsoring this year’s Regenerative Poultry Convergence and for the work they’re leading across the Minnesota landscape.

Forever Green is advancing crops and systems that keep continuous living cover on the land, protecting soil, improving water quality, and creating new economic opportunities for farmers.

This work intersects directly with silvopasture systems like PCRA, where trees, crops, and animals work together to build healthier ecosystems. From living roots in the soil to diversified production, these approaches are not separate—they are connected pathways to the future of regenerative agriculture systems!

We’re grateful to Compeer Financial for sponsoring this year’s Regenerative Poultry Convergence and for showing up in support of farmers across this ecosystem.

As a farmer-owned cooperative, Compeer Financial provides flexible financing options designed to meet farmers where they are at. Their work goes beyond lending, offering business planning support, grants, and access to USDA programs that help emerging farmers build long-term success.

This kind of investment is essential to strengthening local and regional food systems, thank you Compeer Financial!

It’s now time to mark your calendars for Makoce Agriculture Development’s 5th Annual Convergence

📣 5th Annual Makoce Ag Convergence is now LIVE!! 📣
We know it might feel early… but we’re opening registration now because this year, we’re bringing you 4 full days of learning, gathering, and wellness. We’re so excited to welcome everyone back!

✨ Think about the tables that shaped you growing up — your grandparents’ table, your parents’, your aunties and uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends. The table is where we gather... Where food is shared, stories are told, and relationships are strengthened.

This year, we invite you to join us for the 5th Annual Convergence: Healing at The Table!
🗓️ When: September 1-4, 2026
📍 Where: Wóyute Regenerative Production Farmland (1953 BIA 27 Porcupine, SD 57772)
👉🔗 Register at the link in our bio, visit our website at www.makoceag.org, or visit: https://pro.gofundme.com/event/the-5th-annual-convergence-healing-at-the-table/e771225

Day 1️⃣ : Producer Day
We’re inviting producers to come together to talk through poultry production, management, and more. This day is about creating space to share knowledge, strengthen skills, and build community. The table starts in the field.

Day 2️⃣ & 3️⃣: Community, Students & Partners
We’re opening the space to our broader community, especially our young relatives, to explore what Healing at the Table really means.

We’ll be diving into:
✚ Spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical wellness
✚ Historical trauma and how it connects to the food systems we live in today
✚ Culture, food, and storytelling
And so much more!

Day 4️⃣: Healing the Buffalo 🦬
Led by our partners at Tanka Fund, this day will center on the deep connection between buffalo, land, and healing.

This event is open to all. Whether you’re a producer, student, parent, educator, or community member, there is a place for you here. Some of our most important healing happens around the table. We hope you’ll join us!
