Sweet Sassy came to us from a neglect situation alongside several other dogs, all of whom have happily found their forever homes. Now, it’s finally Sassy’s turn to find a family of her very own. ❤️

When Sassy arrived, she had a cantaloupe sized mass on her rear end that was making life much harder than it should have been. Thanks to the medical care she received at DRHS, that mass has been successfully removed, and she’s feeling so much better.

This senior sweetheart is ready to soak up all the love and attention you have to give. Sassy does need to be the only dog in the home, but trust us, she has more than enough love to go around! She adores everyone she meets and never misses an opportunity to make a new friend.

And don’t let her senior status fool you! Sassy still has plenty of pep in her step and a fun-loving personality that is sure to brighten your days. She’s proof that age is just a number when it comes to spreading happiness.

Little different pet of the week for ya! 🦎

This week's Pet of the Week is a little different from our usual furry faces... but we think you're going to love them just as much! 💚

Meet four adorable geckos! These little reptiles came to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society from a neglect case and are now ready for the fresh start they deserve.

Despite their difficult past, these geckos are doing great and are full of personality. They're fascinating to watch, fun to care for, and each has their own unique charm. Whether they're exploring their habitat, basking under their heat source, or keeping an eye on the world around them, these little cuties are sure to bring smiles to their future families.

Reptiles may not wag their tails or purr, but they make incredible companions for the right home. These geckos are looking for adopters who can provide the proper habitat, care, and commitment needed to help them thrive.

Our Pumpkin, Poses & Paws runners-up are stealing the show!

Meet Petey and Max, our second- and third-place winners!

Petey, 2nd Place: This friendly clown has been part of the DRHS family since his adoption in June 2020! When he’s not chasing squirrels, hunting for treats in his Kong, or keeping watch over his backyard, you can find him lounging on the couch or visiting grandma and grandpa. He’s one very loved and very special pup!

Max, 3rd Place: Our adorable little Minion has a BIG personality! This spunky boy loves his toys, bananas, backyard zoomies, and neighborhood strolls. His favorite treasure is his beloved hedgehog, and best of all, he’s found the perfect family to call his own.

A big congratulations to Petey, Max, and their wonderful families! Thank you for participating and helping make Pumpkin, Poses & Paws so much fun. We loved seeing all the creativity and cuteness!

Who can resist this face! This little man is Rocky! He is 7 years old and 44 pounds only. He can live with other dogs and kids, unsure of cats. This sweet boy is SO well mannered and easy to love! He would fit seamlessly into anyones home.

Meet Sonic, our Pumpkin, Poses & Paws FIRST PLACE WINNER! 🧡

This handsome orange boy stole the show, and we can see why!

Sonic has been loved by his family since October 2022, and he’s all about the simple things in life: curling up in your lap for pets, watching the world go by through the window, playing with his brothers, and sneaking in a good nap. He’s laid-back, loves kids, and has plenty of love to give!

Congratulations to Sonic and his family on taking home the top spot! We can’t wait to see how his winning pet portrait session with Amy May Photography turns out! Thank you again for offering this!!

Another wonderful Dog-O-Ween at Theisen's! We had so much fun helping with registration and judging, and there’s nothing better than seeing everyone’s adorable costumes!

A HUGE thank-you to Theisen’s for hosting this fun event and to everyone who participated and supported DRHS! All proceeds come right back to us and the animals in our care, and we’re so grateful for your support!

A special shoutout to our former alumni, Charlie + Alaska! 🥹 It was so good to see them living their best lives outside the shelter!

Chunk (1yr, M) likes to keep busy! he's high energy and getting frustrated sitting still in the shelter setting!! He needs someone to set firm boundaries, structure, and routine while giving him outlets to burn energy and use that big brain of his!! 🩷 He does great in playgroup!

these sweet pups are ONLY 2 weeks old and have at least 6 weeks to go before they're adoption ready, so we need your help!!

puppies this young are extremely vulnerable in a shelter setting. they need lots of extra love, care, and socializing. kit kat is a sweet girl who is treat motivated, people social, and a great mama.
