Look at this boy go!! 🐾

Eno (5yrs, M, unavailable) was rescued from a boat. This sweet deaf pup was found sunburnt, underweight, dehydrated, and scraped up. He has a long road to recovery, and has already come such a long way. 💪

He's been building up his strength before his neuter and has found an amazing foster family to help him recover. Eno is loving playing with his new foster siblings!❤️

The Oakley Fund: A Legacy of Care ❤️

The Oakley Fund was recently established in honor of Andy Ciapalo and his beloved dog, Oakley. This extraordinary endowment gift, made by Andy, establishes a restricted endowment dedicated to supporting medical and veterinary care for animals in need. The Oakley Fund ensures that Andy and Oakley’s legacy will live on by providing compassionate, high-quality care to the animals who need it most.

Important announcement regarding our shelter hours!

Beginning June 1, 2026, Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS) will implement updated public hours designed to better support the animals, team of staff and volunteers, and community it serves. The updated public hours will be:
🐾 Tuesday–Friday: 12pm – 6pm
🐾 Saturday: 11am - 5pm
🐾 Sunday: 1pm - 4pm
🐾 Monday: Closed to the public

This is an exciting step forward for DRHS and the future of how we serve our community, creating opportunities for stronger animal outcomes and a better experience for everyone who walks through our doors, whether it’s to adopt an animal, utilize our free Pet Pantry, or volunteer their time. You’ll be over the moon for Moonpie! 🌝

Moonpie is an outgoing and friendly 1-year-old pup looking for his forever home. He did great when we tested him with another dog at our shelter and he is treat motivated, very eager to learn.

Fun facts about Moonpie:
•Walks nicely on leash
•Likes other dogs
•Knows the word would ‘sit’ and would do well with training
•Loves pets and butt scratches
•Happy to be around people

We are ready to help monarchs (and more) thrive here at the DRHS! 🐛 🦋 Our Mowing to Monarchs project is officially in blooming action.

With the County Conservation's education and guidance, we were able to turn a former rock garden into a pocket prairie - a small but powerful native plant garden that supports pollinators, improves biodiversity, and brings beauty to our community. We are looking forward to the success of our first pocket prairie with the hopes to add more on the DRHS property in the future! Shout out our friends at Dubuque Mulch Co for donating some mulch to help us get this going - thank you.
